Cooper High School

System of Interventions-Behavior Plan

Back on Track
Proposal:
Most of our students in grades 9-12 are positive members of the school community.
However, we have a small percentage of students who negatively impact our school with
inappropriate behavior. We currently have a discipline system that is ineffective in that it
does not work as a deterrent. The current system also does nothing to reeducate our
students or process with them what is needed to make positive choices.
The Back on Track promotes an understanding to students that they personally have to
gain control of themselves in areas such as anger management, self-control and
responsibility. It provides students the opportunity to develop self-awareness and take
personal accountability for their actions.
There are four main keys to success within this program:
1. Take accountability for your actions
2. Use positive communication
3. Resolve the situation
4. Understand you have an opportunity to be successful
Back on Track Highlights:
