NEW POLL RESULTS Wasserman Schultz dominates in Florida 23rd Congressional Primary

Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz is dominating Tim Canova with a 33-point lead in the
Democratic Primary for Floridas 23rd Congressional District. Wasserman Schultzs impressive support is
built upon strongly positive feelings for her with appeal that crosses generational and ideological lines.
Simply put, there is little appetite for change in the district. Wasserman Schultzs constituents view her as
one of them, believe she puts them first in Washington, and think she is on the right side of the issues.

KEY SURVEY FINDINGS:

Wasserman Schultz holds a commanding 33-point lead over Canova: Wasserman Shultz leads
Canova by 33 points (59% to 26%), and with only 15% still undecided, there is little room for Canova
to make up ground on the very popular incumbent.

Wasserman Schultz is extremely popular in her district: Few voters are not familiar with Wasserman
Schultz (97% familiar), and the electorate holds strongly positive feelings for her (61% favorable/13%
neutral/23% unfavorable). In comparison, Canova has much lower name recognition, and many voters
have largely unformed opinions about him (28% favorable/27% neutral/10% undecided).

Wasserman Schultzs appeal crosses generational and ideological lines: In this retiree heavy district,
Wasserman Schultz is running strong among voters younger than 65 (+25 DWS) and among voters 65
or older (+41 DWS). She also holds solid leads over Canova among self-described liberals (+34 DWS)
and those who consider themselves moderate or conservative (+31 DWS).

Voters recognize Wasserman Shultz as one of them and as a true progressive: Three-quarters of this
Democratic Primary electorate believes Wasserman Schultz shares your values (76% describes well)
and a large majority say she is willing to stand up to her own party to do what is right (64% describes
well). Very few think Wasserman Shultz sides with special interests at the expense of South Florida
families (only 36% describes well), believes she is not progressive enough on the issues (only 35%
describes well), or that she is too close to Wall Street (only 25% describes well).
