As of January 1, 2015, PA Child Safe laws changed affecting anyone who


works with or volunteers with children. Therefore, as of the 2015-1016
school year every adult participating at Bucks Area Home School Co-Op will
need to be Kid Safe including background checks completed. NO ONE will be
permitted to begin Co-Op without the completion of the following steps:
1) You must complete the FREE Child Abuse Training at
www.reportabusepa.pitt.edu. When you complete the training, print
the certificate and give a copy to the Co-Op.
2) You must have a Child Abuse Clearance done and a copy given to the
Co-Op. www.compass.state.pa.us/cwis/public/home refer to steps
below.
3) You must have a PA State Police check done and a copy given to the
Co-Op. epatch.state.pa.us/Home.jsp refer to the steps below.
4) IF do not live in PA or if you have lived outside of PA in the last 10 years
you must also have an FBI fingerprint clearance done and a copy given

All of these clearance are good for 3 yrs. If you already have these
clearances, you can just bring in a copy of them.
Step by- step Child Abuse Clearance instructions - Cost is $10.00

Choose create new account and follow the instructions, you will create
your own Keystone ID and then the system will email a password to
you

Look for 2 emails: a confirmation email and an email that gives a


temporary password
Click the Child Welfare Portal link in the confirmation email and login
Choose access my clearances, then continue after the disclosures
and warnings
Enter Keystone ID and temporary password
It will prompt you to create a new password, do so and then continue
to login again as it prompts with the new password you created
Accept terms and conditions on the next 2 screens
Choose create clearance applications and begin
On the next screen, choose Volunteer and then type other and
Bucks Area Home School CoOp in the box
Begin completing your information on the next page, it will ask for your
social security number it is voluntary and not required
Continue entering personal information
At any time, you may save your application and come back to it
After entering all your information, you will need an E-signature to
authorize
The next page will prompt you for a type of payment
You may log out now and look for a confirmation email, the clearance
will take 2 to 3 weeks to process. Then, you will receive an email
asking you to login to review your report.

Instructions for filling out the PA State Police Criminal History Cost is $10.00

Choose submit a new record check


Accept terms and conditions
Reason choose volunteer
Complete information (SS # not required) and submit
Choose finished to add credit card and complete the request
The next screen will show a control # next to your name. Write down
this number to check the status of your check
Click on the control number record check requests, print the page for
financial records
Then click the hyperlink that says Certification Form on this screen to
print the actual clearance

Locations for fingerprinting must bring your Drivers license for verification.

Clearances are due to the CoOp


by August 15th.
No adult will be able to participate in Bucks Area CoOp
until the Kid Safe certificate and clearances are turned
in!!!!!

2.) Notify the person in charge
Your report will be confidential.

If you make a report in good faith a reporter


is immune from civil or criminal liability.
