Affirmative Action Officers and school leaders must be diligent in
protecting the rights of all students and staff members regardless
of race, gender, religion, sexual orientation or disability. This
specially-designed workshop will focus on dealing with the many
complex issues and laws involving discrimination in schools.

When allegations of discrimination are made involving school
employees or students, its essential that the matter is investigated
promptly, effectively and legally. This workshop will provide you
with the tools you need to develop and carry out investigation
plans, including strategies for gathering and reviewing documents,
questioning techniques to help you get to the truth and a review
of procedural steps that must be taken. Participants will receive
model templates and sample investigation reports, learn how to
develop and carry out an investigation action plan, learn from prior
case law and review real world scenarios.

This workshop will include advanced workplace investigation
techniques, including handwriting analysis, understanding
body language, writing reports, and conducting interviews, with
intensive use of role plays and scenarios. Participants will receive
individualized feedback and suggestions for honing their skills.

This online course includes video scenarios related to investigating


sexual harassment and employment discrimination claims, a
summary of case law, key guidance documents from the USDOE
and NJDOE and critical resources for affirmative action officers.
Cost: $150 for each in-person training
$50 for the online course
$450 for the whole series (three in-person plus one
online course)

* Note that the Affirmative Action Officer Certificate is issued by LEGAL ONE, and denotes completion of a core set of courses intended to
provide a strong foundation in the essential knowledge and skills needed to operate effectively as an Affirmative Action officer. Participants
are also required to demonstrate a base of knowledge by completing an online course and passing an online assessment. Completion of this
certificate program may also be used to satisfy all or part of your individual professional development plan or professional growth plan. This is
not a certificate issued by the New Jersey Department of Education and is not required in order to serve as an Affirmative Action Officer.
