News Type:
An online platform bridging the gap between expert analysis and journalism; the content aims to
be engaging and informative; the content is written by a range of Ukraine / Ukrainian experts
from both at home and away. It also tries to cultivate engagement through initiatives like the
Rada Challenge, getting politicians to describe their first 100 days in parliament. There is no
apparent political bias on the site; it is clearly pro-Ukraine in that its mission is to introduce
informed analysis into decision-making in Ukraine but it retains a critical tone about issues such
as corruption. Its content (or the parts that would be syndicated) would need to come closer to a
journalistic style as right now much of it is veering too close to a think tank style analysis. Active
on social media.
Potential Partners: Favors more formal, broadsheet outlets: Le Monde, El Pais,

Language: Russian, Ukrainian, English
News Type:
A digital multimedia platform with a mix of broadcast TV and written content, accompanied by
strong visuals. Hromadske is the leading news outlet to be established in response to Maidan and
was one of the few reliable sources during the height of the protests. It aims to bring high-quality
journalism, new media tools and objective analysis to one place, staffed by Ukrainian and foreign
journalists.
The Hromadske Network prides itself on its impartiality. Journalists founded and run the
organisation, and the funding comes from viewers and non-profit organisations. We have no ties
to the Ukrainian government or business groups. The content is well written and presented, with
lots of strong visuals ensuring good potential appeal for the 20 35 years demographic. Its
explainers would make excellent potential syndicated content: see this one on the far right in
Ukraine for example; or this one on decentralization.

Contact: Taras Voznyak (Editor-in-Chief) (recommended by Vlad).
Language: English
News type: Very old digital platform; most recent journal is from 2010 though there is evidence
of more recent activity. Potentially some writers from this platform might be partnered with
other European outlets but in its current form it does not look like viable. Inna advises it is very
niche but does have an important intellectual cache.
The NGO "", an independent cultural organization founded in the late 1980's in L'viv, focuses on
modern Ukrainian and world intellectual thought.
It offers periodic forums for discussion of issues concerning Ukraine and, among others, Europe,
Russia, post-Byzantium, the Muslim Renaissance. It analyzes the current situation in order to
develop future socio-political strategies.
The organization also publishes "", a quarterly journal dealing with European and Ukrainian
issues in politics, philosophy, and culture.
