Course Description:
The curriculum for this course aligns with the Texas Common Core Standards for Mathematics
which may be viewed on the Texas Education Agency website.
Materials:
Students are expected to bring appropriate materials to each class. Please refer to the Bulldog
School Supply List link on the schools webpage for needed materials.
Classroom Rules, Expectations, and Consequences:

District policies are followed as outlined in the school-wide Student Code of Conduct. Classroom
Rules are also posted throughout our room. Rules are based on a foundation of Respect for the
teacher, other students, and yourself.
Class Expectations

Be in class on time and prepared with your interactive notebook and pencil

Follow all classroom routines

Raise your hand for permission to speak or leave your seat

Gum chewing and electronic devices (cell phones, iPods, etc.) are NOT permitted in the
classroom unless we are using them for an activity that day

Be respectful to everyone and everything in the classroom

Be responsible for all missed notes and assignments

Take initiative (If you dont know, ask for more instructions, and give it a try!)

Help others

Homework:
Homework is an important part of learning and mastering math concepts. Students should expect
of have no more than15 minutes of math homework on Wednesdays in order to reinforce concepts
taught during class. Students receive credit for the assignment, provided that they show their
work, document reasonable effort, and turn the assignment in on time. In addition, I have a
classroom blog that provides students with extra instruction beyond the classroom that was not
retained by the student.
Late Homework:

Students are expected to complete assignments on time. In the event of an absence, it is the
students responsibility to check with the teacher for work and notes that were missed on the
day(s) of the week the student was absent.
Grading:
Weighted Grading Scale:
Grades are weighted by the categories listed below:

50% Daily Grades

35% Major Grades

15% Nine Weeks Exam/CBA

Students will have a minimum of 18 grades each 9 weeks, with a minimum of two being
test/major grades. Extra Credit is available at teachers discretion.
Redo and Retake Policy:
In accordance with grading guidelines, a student may be permitted a reasonable opportunity to
redo an assignment or an exam for which the student received a failing grade. For Major grades
and Nine Weeks Exams, students are permitted to make corrections to the original test during the
available tutorials time or a scheduled time approved by the teacher. Students may re-test within 3
school days for a maximum grade of 70%. Students may also redo daily assignments within 2
school days for a maximum grade of 70%. Student will make arrangements with the classroom
teacher on when and how to re-do failed daily assignments.
Tutorials:
The purpose of a tutorial session is to provide direct assistance to students who have not mastered
TEKS for the unit or need assistance on a particular part of the material. Tutorials will be
provided to students on Wednesday Evenings between the hours of 4:15 and 5:15 P.M. If any
student requires additional tutorials, they can do so by scheduling a time that fits both the student
and teachers schedule. All students will be given a tutorial pass enabling them access to my
room. This will be posted in the classroom as a reminder for students.
Interactive Notebook (INB) Guidelines:

Students must have their Interactive Notebook EVERY DAY to organize and record their
work.

Table of Contents and Notes must be kept current, labeled, and page numbered

Plagiarism/Academic Integrity:
Academic integrity is expected on all assignments. Plagiarism is defined as presenting the work
of another as ones own. Cheating on an assignment or assessment is another activity that violates

ethics and school rules. Any work that exhibits cheating/plagiarism will result in a zero, parental
notification, and disciplinary action will be taken.
