Public Opinion Strategies recently completed a survey of 400 likely voters in Californias 7th Congressional
District. The survey was conducted August 14-17, 2016 and has a margin of error of 4.90%. The
memorandum below reviews the key findings of the poll. The survey was sponsored by Scott Jones for
Congress and the National Republican Congressional Committee
1. This race is currently a jump ball;

Scott Jones is polling at 45%, while incumbent Congressman Ami Bera is at 46%.
Scott Jones starts this campaign well-known and well-liked. Sixty-four percent of the
voters have heard of Scott Jones, and he has a 32% - 13% favorable-unfavorable ratio.

2. In contrast, Ami Bera has a much more polarized position;

His image is 49% favorable 35% unfavorable.


His re-elect is upside down with 43% voting to re-elect, and 47% preferring a new
person.

3. The presidential race is a functional tie;

Hillary Clinton has a slim 41% - 38% lead over Trump.
