1889 - 1956: The Beginning of The Beginning


Founded by Fusajiro Yamauchi at Kyoto prefecture, Japan as a playing card
game company. Started off by producing Hanafuda and the company was
named Nintendo Playing Card Co., Ltd at that time.

Japanese traditional cards can be used in different card games, for example, Koi
Koi. Hanafuda is derived from the words Hana meaning flower and Fuda
meaning cards.

1956 - 1974: Finding companys identity


1956 Hiroshi Yamauchi, the grandson of Fusajiro Yamauchi,
went to U.S. and talked with United States Playing Card
Company.
1963 Yamauchi renamed Nintendo Playing Card Co. Ltd. to
Nintendo Co., Ltd.
1963 - 1968 Established another company called Daiya as a
taxi company. Later, with labor union problem, Nintendo got
forced to sell this taxi company. Nintendo didnt only try out
Taxi but also a love hotel chain, a TV network, a food
company, and many more.

1956 - 1974: Finding companys identity


1964 After Tokyo Olympics , the sales of playing cards
dropped harshly. Nintendos stock price plummeted to
its lowest recorded level of 60.
1966 Nintendo changed into a toy industry with the
Ultra Hand developed by Gunpei Yokoi. There were also
some more toys that Nintendo released in this period
too.

Pokemon Gos idea was only planned to be
just a 2014s April Fools joke called Google
Maps: Pokemon Challenge but John
Hanke, the Niantic Founder, decided to
make the idea come true by using the
same genre of their existing game Ingress
as a prototype. After Iwata and Pokemon
Company confirmed about this project, he
started the project. Before the pass-away
of Iwata, he had a high expectation for
Pokemon Go project.

Pokemon Go is now well known world wide, but only few people knew about
its core series. There is a total of 6 completed generations and 1 upcoming

Marios Debut
The well known Mario wasnt Nintendos first game. Their very first games
were Game and Watch and Donkey Kong. Donkey Kongs protagonist was an
unnamed man and was referred to as Jump Man. After Mario was released,
many people believed that Jump Man was Mario.
