CATF1SH

A DYNAMIC ICON OF COASTAL RACING

About CATF1SH
CATF1SH is the ultimate fusion of machine
and marine. Exuding dynamism, it has the
body of a Mako Shark, the fastest shark in
the ocean. It is now the fastest on land as
CATF1SH has gills inspired by ventilation
grills on a race car. Completing the theme,
exhausts fan out in place of its fins.

Instead of having a driver at the wheel,

CATF1SH is controlled by the ultimate
predator of the animal kingdom as it is
crowned with the head of a male lion.
Combined with a sharks body and a racing
heart it makes CATF1SH an icon for a Grand
Prix by the sea.

Its characteristics and inspiration are

perfectly suited to Singapore. Its dynamism
reflects Singapores progressive nature and
racing heritage whilst its body symbolises its
care for marine life. Singapores roots as the
Lion City show through the CAT in CATF1SH
which is the king of the jungle.

As well as being a unique emblem for coastal

racing, CATF1SH is a modern interpretation
of the Merlion. It would make a memorable
monument for the entrance plaza of a new
or existing hotel and would generate a lot of
publicity as it is so striking. It is an icon that
all of Singapores citizens could support and
relate to.

Singapore would be the only country to

feature CATF1SH on permanent display. It
was launched to the racing community at F1s
Zoom (www.zoom-f1.com) charity gala where
it was seen by Bernie Ecclestone, Christian
Horner, Max Mosley, Anthony Hamilton and
many more personalities from the sport.

About 1CARUS

CATF1SH comes from the stable of British

sculptor Tom Maley and the F1 community
is well-acquainted with his work. A desktop
version of 1CARUS, the predecessor to
CATF1SH, was commissioned by Bernie
Ecclestone in 2013 and currently sits in F1s
headquarters in London.

Its name comes from 1CARUS, the character

from Greek mythology who dared to fly too
near to the sun on wings of feathers and wax.
1CARUS is equally daring on land and evokes
classic motoring mascots. Cutting a striking
pose, 1CARUS is a muscular helmeted driver
with his arms outstretched behind him like
wings as he strides forward. Instead of having
hands, huge stainless steel exhausts project
from his arms with the tangle of pipes that
supply them leading into his back.
Bernie was so impressed with the desktop
piece that he asked for a large version of it
to be displayed outside his motorhome in
the paddock at the 2014 British Grand Prix.
It is understood to be the first time that a
sculpture has ever been displayed in this
location which is one of the most exclusive in
the F1 paddock.

It attracted widespread attention from media

and was featured on the BBC, Sky Sports
and many other television channels. F1s
most well-known personalities, including
Bernie, Ong Beg Seng, Toto Wolff, Niki Lauda
and Naomi Campbell, had their photos taken
with 1CARUS showing the appeal for Toms
statues within the sport.
