Project Manager

General purpose of the position


The position is aimed at ensuring the proper management and implementation of all project
activities according to the established work plan and the allocated budget to fulfil all
operational objectives of the ECHO project.
Main responsibilities and tasks
Project operations:
To define project management organization and processes (roles, procedures and
decisional processes, operational processes, work methodologies) within the framework of
activity implementation;
To elaborate, manage and monitor/supervise general and monthly planning of project
activities, as well as relative economic and financial planning on the basis of available donor
funds;
To guarantee compatibility and conformity to budget constraints and procedures defined by
INTERSOS and donors;
To be responsible for project funds management and for bank account management in
close relation with administration;
To manage procurement of goods, works and services essential to the project in close
relation with logistics;
To be responsible for all project documentation up until its conclusion (archiving);
To be responsible for warehouse stock management and relative accounting and for
accuracy of monthly inventory in close relation with logistics;
To be responsible for accurate project administration:
To supervise the preparation of accounting documents for intermediate and final financial
reports required by donors;
Project reporting:
To be responsible for accuracy of all narrative reports required by donors;
To send the Head of Mission the reports on project implementation to be presented to the
donor;
To send the Head of Mission monthly project activity reports and the final report evaluating
the experience and containing indications for new projects.
Project development/strategy:
To identify new opportunities to develop the given project and/or to open new activities in
close relation with the Head of Mission
To be available to conduct exploratory missions for project development and/or new project
opportunities
Project HR management:
To recruit and select the needed project staf
To manage human resources within the project and carry out performance appraisals.
To coordinate project personnel and promote role-positioning, education and training;
To supervise, motivate and appraise personnel and promote its cohesion.
Position requirements
Education
Degree in Humanitarian Aid, International Politics and/or Law Studies or similar.
Professional experience
Minimum of 3 years of relevant working experience in protection (with INGOs or international
organizations - or UN) required to successfully perform the role.
Experience in working with refugees/IDP in and outside camps; in depth knowledge in SGBV;
experience in repatriation and profiling activities.
Professional requirements
Familiarity with ECHO funding & reporting mechanisms.
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with analytic approach.

Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with other INTERSOS projects and
with INTERSOS key donors.
Familiarity with MS Office.
Languages
Proficient or working knowledge of French.
Proficient or working knowledge of English (desirable)
Personal requirements
Stress resistance: capacity to work in volatile security environment and to adapt to basic
living conditions
Diplomacy and intercultural ability
Patience (long waiting periods) and flexibility (need to adapt deadlines and objectives due to
external and internal constraints)
