INTRODUCTION
2013 American Student Summer Camp sponsored by Taiwan International Youth
Exchange Association (TIYEA). This is an exciting summer camp available to students. We hope
the following information will answer some questions you may have and provide you the
necessary information to start yourself on a life-changing cultural journey you will never forget.
Taiwan International Youth Exchange Association
Taiwan International Youth Exchange Association (TIYEA) is a non-profit organization. The
objective of TIYEA is to develop young peoples international field of vision and lead the
international students to get to know Taiwan. The goal is to encourage high school students to
broaden their views of what the world is all about and make opportunities to experience
different cultures.
Purpose of Plan
Over a past decade, the Taiwan government has been encouraging high school students to
broaden their views of what the world is, and make opportunities to experience different
cultures. Some high school students do make it abroad, but not every student or their families
can afford to travel overseas. Therefore, we, the Taiwan International Youth Exchange
Association, have deemed it more economically sound to invite a few students from the United
States to come and join in a summer camp. The summer camp will provide an opportunity to
Taiwanese high school students to experience western culture, enhance their English language
skills, and make American friends without the excess need of traveling expenses. And also
provide an opportunity to American students to experience a different culture and life style,
make friends with the students in Taiwan, and broaden their perspective of the world.

2011~2012 SUMMER CAMP

In the past 2 years, we invited 12-19 students to come and join our
summer camp. The students who came enjoyed their days in
Taiwan. They worked in different elementary schools and high
schools. They had a service project where they spent the day in
the mountains in Fusing. They also made a study tour where they
visited and taught in different high schools. They enjoyed the
different culture, friendly people, unique food and fun places in
Taiwan. All the memories will stay in their hearts for life.
