An active listener is a person that understands, concentrates, responds, and remembers
what has been discussed. I can become a better active listener by ensuring that I understand
anything that is discussed before responding.
Question 2
I would implement the six factors that ate essential to team building by establishing my
leadership with every member of the team, trust and collaboration among team members. The
first step is to ensure that there is open communication among members of a team to build trust.
Secondly, I would empower team members by giving them the mandate to make decisions with
regard to their work. Thirdly, I would walk up to any team member and ask him to define his
responsibilities in the team. Additionally, I would provide effective leadership by ensuring that I
set clear objectives for every team member and the team, give guidelines, and give positive and
constructive feedback to all teams. Lastly, I would reward the best performing team.

The ways through which I would overcome the negative effects of being promoted to a
management position within your organization is by identifying the sources of probable harm to
the wellbeing and health of staff, evaluating the risk of being harmed by staff, executing factors

effectiveness of the interventions to see to it that there is continuous improvement.

The steps that I would utilize in discussing with a worker who fails to complete his duties
include identifying the issue that make him not to accomplish his responsibilities for instance I
would ask him to give reasons why he fails to accomplish his duties. Secondly, I would identify
his interests and try to find out if his interests suit a different department from his current
responsibilities. Additionally, I will highlight possible solutions for instance, giving him different
responsibilities, assess the options for instance, I will give him new responsibilities and try to
find out if he will complete his duties in a different department, I will choose the appropriate
option that he will be comfortable with and perform accordingly. I will document the agreement
to serve as evidence for our discussion, and agree on supervision so that I can compare his
current and previous performance. Lastly, I would assess the employee by comparing his current
and previous performance.

Yes, management skills are different from skills that one requires to succeed as an
individual contributor. This is because management entails managing a group of individuals
which is different from skills that single contributor would require.

Some of the skills that I have that would help me become an effective leader include
good communication skills, paying attention to other peoples ideas without a divided mind, and
believing in myself.

The management style that is my strengths is permissive. This is because as a manager, I
allow subordinates to participate in decision making and also give them a considerable level of
autonomy in accomplishing routine work activities. However, the management style that I need
improvement is directive autocrat. For instance, I should on the issue of making decisions
unilaterally.
