In this task, I will label the Mother Board, of the properties I am

knowledgeable on.
Firstly, before I label the mother board, its important to first understand cables
that helped me write this assignment.
1. Back panel and connectors and ports:
- This allows external devices to be connected to the computer,
external devices such as, display ports, audio ports, USB ports,
Ethernet ports. There are four types of different connections to a
computer monitor: VGA, DVI, HDMI and DisplayPort.
A VGA Cable looks like this:

The VGA Cable connects to the VGA port which looks like this:

Simple right?
One other connection to a monitor even though there is HDMI, this will be
previewed on another assignment, next is the DVI Cable/Port. Same principal
as the VGA Cable/Port.

Here is a picture of two best friends that are sometimes both at the back of a
computer depending on the back panels of each GPU Card

Recognise them? Good. Youre now qualified with basic monitors.

Refocusing on the question with labelling the Monitor, I will be drawing
transparent boxes all number coded and label the numbers below the
picture. This is just to manage space.

1. DRAM Slots. (4 slots) (Could be DDR2, DDR3, DDR4)

2. CPU Socket.
3. CPU Heatsink and cooling system/fans mounting points.
4. PSU Connector. (Power connector)
5. Hard drive slot. (Can sometimes have an extra slot)
6. Northbridge. (with heatsink)
7. Southbridge. (with heatsink)
8. Backup battery.
9. ROM. (BIOS) (This mother board has dual BIOS)
10. PCI Slots. (Peripheral Component Interconnect)
11. AGP Slot. (Accelerated Graphics Port)
12. Back panels. (connectors for peripherals e.g. audio jacks, Ethernet,
serial port, USB, etc.)
Definitions:
PCI A Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) slot is a connecting apparatus
for a 32-bit computer bus. These tools are built into the motherboards of computers
and devices in order to allow for the addition of PCI devices like modems, network

AGP AGP. (Accelerated Graphics Port) A hardware interface from Intel for
connecting a display adapter (graphics card) to a PC. Superseded by PCI Express, a
single AGP slot on the motherboard provided a direct connection between the card

Northbridge Northbridge. The high-speed part of a common chipset architecture
in a computer. The Northbridge is the controller that interconnects the CPU to
memory via the front side bus (FSB). It also connects peripherals via high-speed
channels such as AGP and PCI Express. [3] information gathered from

Southbridge The south bridge is one of the two chips in the core logic chipset on
a personal computer (PC) motherboard, the other being the north bridge. The south
bridge typically implements the slower capabilities of the motherboard in a north

As you can see, the back of the desktop includes a graphics card which
contain both VGA and DVI Ports. If your monitor connects to a VGA port but
there is only a DVI port on your GFX card, you can purchase an adapter
which you plug the VGA cable into and then you plug the adapter with the
VGA Cable connected into the DVI port, and it will work. Simple right?
