Previleges of Students Members

Participation in various technical activities of the students'


chapter.
Participation in All India Technicians'/Students' Convention.
Eligible to contest in the All India Students' Committee election.

Eligible to pursue engineering degree in additional branch of


their choice, with nominal fee and exemption to appear from
Section A Examination.

Opportunity to meet fellow engineers for professional interaction.


Reimbursement of travelling expenses to students selected for
presentation of technical papers in Technicians'/Students'
Convention.
After passing the final year examination, student members are
eligible for the following :
Members of the students' chapter of Engineering Colleges,
after passing the final B.E./B.Tech Examination, may
become Associate Member of Institution. The membership
form can be downloaded from IEI website www.ieindia.org
under Membership tab.
Members of students chapter of polytechnics are eligible to
become Senior Technician members at conessional fee to
appear Sections A & B examinations of the Institution.
Student Members of engineering colleges/polytechnics are
eligible to participate in Students Design Competition every
year being organised by National Design and Research
Forum.
Associate Members are entitled to receive Chartered
Engineer certificate on payment of requisite fee.

Journals of IEI are available in soft copy through web and hard
copy on concessional rate.
Freedom to choose journals from 15 engineering disciplines.

STUDENTS CHAPTERS ACTIVITIES


Over 1 500 Students' chapters (as on 01/08/2016) function at
various engineering colleges/polytechnics. Chapters conduct a
variety of technical activities, such as, seminars, industrial visits,
group discussions, technical quiz competitions, workshops,
model/poster competition and film shows throughout the year.
Annual Students' Convention with a Seminar on a topical subject
and Technical Session to provide a platform for presentation of
technical papers and building fellowship and opportunities for
networking with peers and senior members to the Institution.

At present, IEI organises technical discourses of diverse nature

Scholarships
Scholarships of ` 10 000/- each to ten students during every year of
study in Engineering Colleges (total 40) and ` 7 000/- each to fifteen
students during every year of study in Polytechnics (total 45) are
given to weaker sections of the society as per the laid down norms.

Prizes and Awards


Three best Engineering College Students Chapters and three
best Polytechnic Students Chapters are annually awarded the
certificate, plaque and ` 20 000/-, ` 15 000/- and ` 10 000/- in
each category respectively.
The National Design and Research Forum (NDRF) a
peripheral body of the Institution conducts the students Design
Competition every year amongst the student members studying
in engineering colleges of the country. Apart from a certificate,
the awardees are being given Gold, Silver and Bronze madels in
each engineering discipline.
Best three technical papers presented in the Seminar and
Technical Sessions by student members of Engineering College
and Polytechnic Students Chapters are awarded in the Annual
Convocation and Technicians/Students Convention.

Students Newsletter
Biannual Newsletter is published biannualy covering the reports of
the technical activities of students' chapters and publication of best
technical papers presented at the Annual Convention.
