It wasnt until the 1911 century that Britain had a police force as we know it today. In
medieval times, the maintenance of law and order was in the hands of local nobles and lords
who were expected to keep the peace in their own land, and they would often appoint
constables to police it. For a long time policing remained an unpaid activity or was paid for
privately, either by individuals or organizations. There were also people who made a living as
thief takers. They were not paid wages, but were rewarded by a proportion of the value of
the stolen possessions they recovered. Later, in London, where the population was rapidly
increasing and crime was rising, night-watchmen the first paid law enforcement body were
created and worked alongside the unpaid, part-time constables.
Britain, then, was slower to create and develop a police force than the rest of Europe: France
had one long before indeed, the word police is taken from the French. This fact was not
unimportant, as the very idea of a police force was seen as foreign that is, French and
particularly undesirable, and was generally regarded as a form of oppression.
It was not until Robert Peel set up his new police as a separate force in 1829 that policemen
began to replace the old part-time constables. Sir Robert Bobby Peels own name provided
two common nicknames for the new force: Peelers or Bobbies. These names seem mild, if
not affectionate, and are possibly an interesting gauge of how the police were viewed by
people at the time, in contrast with the kind of names they get called these days.
Brookville. In order to raise property values in Deerhaven Acres, we should adopt our own set

2. A jazz music club in Monroe would be a tremendously profitable enterprise. Currently, the
nearest jazz club is 65 miles away; thus, our proposed club, the C Note, would have the local
market all to itself. Plus, jazz is extremely popular in Monroe: over 100,000 people attended
Monroes jazz festival last summer, several well-known jazz musicians live in Monroe, and the
highest-rated radio program in Monroe is Jazz Nightly, which airs every weeknight. Finally, a
nationwide study indicates that the typical jazz fan spends close to $1,000 per year on jazz
entertainment. It is clear that the C Note cannot help but make money.
3. Mesa Foods, a manufacturer of snack foods that currently markets its products within a
relatively small region of the country, has a strong growth potential. Mesa enjoyed a 20
percent increase in profits last year, and its best-selling product, Diabolique Salsa, has had
increased sales over each of the past three years. Since Omni Inc. is interested in reaching
14-to-25 year olds, the age group that consumes the most snack food, we should buy Mesa
Foods, and concentrate in particular on marketing Diabolique Salsa throughout the country.
4. During the past year, Alta Manufacturing had thirty percent more on-the-job accidents
than nearby Panoply Industries, where the work shifts are one hour shorter than ours. Experts
believe that a significant contributing factor in many on-the-job accidents is fatigue and sleep
deprivation among workers. Therefore, to reduce the number of on-the-job accidents at Alta
and thereby increase productivity, we should shorten each of our three work shifts by one
hour so that our employees will get adequate amounts of sleep.

Given that the number of people in our country with some form of arthritis is
expected to rise from 40 million to 60 million over the next twenty years, pharmaceutical
companies that produce drugs for the treatment of arthritis should be very profitable. Many
analysts believe that in ten years Becton Pharmaceuticals, which makes Xenon, the bestselling drug treatment for arthritis, will be the most profitable pharmaceutical company.
But the patent on Xenon expires in three years, and other companies will then be able to
produce a cheaper version of the drug. Thus, it is more likely that in ten years the most
profitable pharmaceutical company will be Perkins Pharmaceuticals, maker of a new drug
called Xylan, which clinical studies show is preferred over Xenon by seven out of ten
patients suffering from the most extreme cases of arthritis.
8.
In the next mayoral election, residents of Clearview should vote for Ann Green, who is
a member of the Good Earth Coalition, rather than for Frank Braun, a member of the
Clearview town council, because the current members are not protecting our environment.
For example, during the past year the number of factories in Clearview has doubled, air
pollution levels have increased, and the local hospital has treated 25 percent more patients
with respiratory illnesses. If we elect Ann Green, the environmental problems in Clearview
will certainly be solved.
9.Two years ago, our consultants predicted that West Eggs landfill, which is used for garbage
disposal, would be completely filled within five years. During the past two years, however,
town residents have been recycling twice as much aluminum and paper as they did in
previous years. Next month the amount of material recycled should further increase, since
charges for garbage pickup will double. Furthermore, over ninety percent of the respondents
to a recent survey said that they would do more recycling in the future. Because of our
residents strong commitment to recycling, the available space in our landfill should last for
considerably longer than predicted.
10.
Of the two leading real estate firms in our townAdams Realty and Fitch
RealtyAdams is clearly superior. Adams has 40 real estate agents. In contrast, Fitch has
25, many of whom work only part-time. Moreover, Adams revenue last year was twice as
high as that of Fitch, and included home sales that averaged $168,000, compared to Fitchs
$144,000. Homes listed with Adams sell faster as well: ten years ago, I listed my home with
Fitch and it took more than four months to sell; last year, when I sold another home, I listed
it with Adams, and it took only one month. Thus, if you want to sell your home quickly and
at a good price, you should use Adams.
11.A recent sales study indicates that consumption of seafood dishes in Bay City restaurants
has increased by 30 percent during the past five years. Yet there are no currently operating
city restaurants whose specialty is seafood. Moreover, the majority of families in Bay City are
two-income families, and a nationwide study has shown that such families eat significantly
fewer home-cooked meals than they did a decade ago but at the same time express more
concern about healthful eating. Therefore, the new Captain Seafood restaurant that
specializes in seafood should be quite popular and profitable.
12.
The population on Balmer Island doubles during the summer months. During the
summer, then, the town council of Balmer Island should decrease the maximum number of
moped rentals allowed at each of the islands six moped and bicycle rental companies from
50 per day to 30 per day. This will significantly reduce the number of summertime
accidents involving mopeds and pedestrians. The neighbouring island of Torseau actually
saw a 50 percent reduction in moped accidents last year when Torseaus town council
enforced similar limits on moped rentals. To help reduce moped accidents, therefore, we
should also enforce these limitations during the summer months.

With the expected rise of approximately 20 million in the number of people with some form of arthritis,
Pharmaceutical companies named Perkins Pharmaceuticals will likely be the most profitable pharmaceutical
company within ten years because the patent of the Becton Pharmaceuticals on best-selling drug Xenon will

10.
Recycling of aluminium and paper have increased in previous 2 years and its going to further increase because
of the strong commitment of residents for the recycling which will lead to longlasting available space in our
landfill.
11.
Adams Realty is the best real estate firms in the town because it has more full time employees than Fitch
therefore homes listed with Adams sell faster and it is supported by the fact that last year it has reported much
larger revenue and home sales than that of Fitch.
12.
Due to expected rise in the number of arthritis, most of the pharmaceutical companies will be profited
particularly Becton and Perkins pharmaceuticals, whereas the later one will be most profitable for its newly
manufactured drug called Xylan which is supposed to gain its popularity over Xenon manufactured by Becton.
13.
It is advisable to vote for Ann Green who is a member of Good Earth Coalition rather than Frank Braun in the
next mayoral election in Clearview town as despite of being the current member of Clearview township council,
Frank Braun has not done much for the protection of environment.
Due to continuous recycling efforts particularly for aluminium foil and paper from the last 2 years by the
residents of West Egg, the prediction of completing filling of the landfill by the consultants will last for more
years which was also revealed from the commitment made by the residents according to the recent survey.
Among the two real estates in the town, Adams Reality is considered better than Fitch Reality due its higher
number of real estate agents, higher revenues and sales which I had experienced during the sale of my
properties.
A newly opened restaurant Captain seafood restaurant will increase its sale as there is an increasing trend in
the consumption of seafood in the Bay City restaurants as most of the families belongs to working class even
though they are health conscious, according to the recent sales study.

Humans arrived in the Kaliko Islands about 7,000 years ago, and within 3,000 years
most of the large mammal species that had lived in the forests of the Kaliko Islands were
extinct. Previous archaeological findings have suggested that early humans generally relied
on both fishing and hunting for food; since archaeologists have discovered numerous sites
in the Kaliko Islands where the bones of fish were discarded, it is likely that the humans
also hunted the mammals. Furthermore, researchers have uncovered simple tools, such as
stone knives, that could be used for hunting. The only clear explanation is that humans
caused the extinction of the various mammal species through excessive hunting.

It is time for the city of Grand view to stop funding the Grand view Symphony
Orchestra. It is true that the symphony struggled financially for many years, but last year
private contributions to the symphony increased by 200 percent and attendance at the

announced an increase in ticket prices for next year. For these reasons, we recommend
that the city eliminate funding for the Grand view Symphony Orchestra from next years

Last October, the city of Belleville installed high-intensity lighting in its central
business district, and vandalism there declined almost immediately. The city of Amburg, on
the other hand, recently instituted police patrols on bicycles in its business district.
However, the rate of vandalism here remains constant. Since high-intensity lighting is
clearly the most effective way to combat crime, we recommend using the money that is
currently being spent on bicycle patrols to install such lighting throughout Amburg. If we
install this high-intensity lighting, we will significantly reduce crime rates in Amburg.

It is observed that average lifespan of a person is reduced drastically to the bad health and unhealthy lifestyle
and this will impact the future generation children; hence, people should concentrate more on their health than

way it is expressed. The gestures and facial expressions involved mean much more than the
content. An experiment performed on babies proved this point. A group of four-month old
babies were shown faces on a screen Sometimes the faces developed an eye contact with
babies and sometimes they averted their stare. Slowly an observation was made that babies
who had no verbal communication, responded to facial non-verbal communication also. So we
can well understand how important is a healing touch or a loving gesture of face to face
conversation. The only ones who have benefited from these text communications are those
who are shy. Some people face anxiety and are at a loss of words at times of face to face
communication. For them this type of distant chatting is quite helpful.
Idiots, babies under three years old, and hopelessly insane people cannot be
hypnotized.
No one can be hypnotized unless the operator can make him concentrate his attention
for a reasonable length of time. Concentration of attention, whatever the method of
producing hypnotism, is absolutely necessary.
Persons not easily hypnotized are those said to be neurotic (or those affected with
hysteria). By hysteria is not meant nervous excitability, necessarily. In medical science
hysteria is an irregular action of the nervous system. It will sometimes show itself by
severe pains in the arm, when in reality there is nothing whatever to cause pain; or it will
raise a swelling on the head quite without cause. It is a tendency to nervous disease which
in severe cases may lead to insanity. The word neurotic is a general term covering affection
of the nervous system. It includes hysteria and much else beside.
The expert hypnotizer often tries to rummage through the human mind, looking for small
pieces of evidence that might link turbulence today to occurrences forgotten.

The ongoing conflict between two mega cola companies is known to all. All carbonated
beverages generally lie under the flagship of two champs in this field, Coca Cola Company
and PepsiCo. The brand conflict has furthered to a great extent. The lust to dominate does not
extend to supermarkets alone. The turmoil extends from control over restaurants supply of
colas to supplies to big countries. The rivalry is for global control. This long battle to sweep
the global market has lasted for decades. It seems as legendary as the conflict of good and
evil. But the choice depends on consumers taste buds. The consumer taste criteria adjudge
what is good and what is the evil.
Both Coca cola and PepsiCo leave no stone unturned. They go to the extent of deterring the
rival company on URLs and through commercials. Despite all the convulsive episodes, and
both companies claiming the ball to be in their court, the consumer i.e. the jury is still
undecided who rules the market.
The steaming competition is forcing the companies to launch new products. The companies
are daily remodelling their marketing strategy. Through commercials, promotional campaigns
and consumer benefit schemes they want to take the market with a stride but the judgment
of the winner lies with the rising sales, profits and consumer loyalty. They are trying to
increase the market share in other beverage categories.
The war to lead the market goes on.
This most extraordinary valley seems thus to have been formed and preserved by Nature
herself for the special possession of man. She herself seems to have held it in reserve for him
from the very morning of creation, refusing admission into it to every plant and every animal
that might hinder or disturb his occupancy and control. And if he were to abandon it now for a
thousand years, and then return to it once more, he would find it just as he left it, ready for
his immediate possession. There would be no wild beasts that he must first expel, and no
tangled forests would have sprung up, that his axe must first remove. Nature is the
husbandman who keeps this garden of the world in order.
