The UNIQUE firearms are manufactured by Manufacture d'Armes des

Pyrenees Frangaises, a firm specialized for 45 years In automatic defensive,
sporting and competition firearms which are to-day exported throughout the
whole world.
The Bcf model produced specially for Police requirements, fully satisfies
the strict characteristics called for in a firearm for defensive purposes:
accuracy, strength, safety, ease of use and maintenance under all
circumstances. The UNIQUE pistol of which several hundreds of thousands are in use throughout the world, are used particularly by the
French Police Forces and others abroad.
Due to the special design incorporating interchangeablllty of parts,
and to the manufacturing precision. It Is simple to change the Model
Bcf from caliber .380 (9mm Short) to caliber .32 (7,65 mm), by merely
changing barrels. The pistol can be supplied with either thumb rest grips
as shown in the illustration, or with plain checkered grips. The plain
grips are especially useful for the left handed shooter, and result in a
lessening In tha bulk of the pistol.

DESCRIPTION AND ADVANTAGES

ACCURACY, FUNCTIONING, STRENGTH, LIGHTNESS.
The UNIQUE pistol, model Bcf, owes its excellent accuracy to the
extreme care in the manufacture of the barrel. The latter, in treated steel,
perfectly rifled and polished both exteriorly and interiorly can withstand
thousands of shots without trace of wear. The firing pin and firing pin
stop, the sear, the hammer, the extractor etc., are also in special treated
steel, and have the same guarantee of strength. The hand grips are
in good brown unbreakable plastic material. All the springs In the pistol
are checked and measured.
The firearm is perfectly balanced in the hand. It's dimensions, make
the carrying and the handling extremely easy. A ring is provided on the
left side of the firearm for the fitting of a lanyard.
The rational conception and intentional simplicity of the pistol allows
Its immediate dismantling into only 4 parts for cleaning, which makes easy
the perfect maintenance of the firearm by the user himself, without the
risk of losing parts [see fig. for dismantling). It is sufficient to unscrew
the hand plate for the mechanism to be immediately uncovered and
accessible.
The firearm, besides multiple checkings during manufacture, undegoes
before leaving the factory a test of precision firing and functioning and
a test of resistance made by the Paris Proof House.
HAMMER.
The UNIQUE pistol model Bcf is with visible hammer. This characteristic, now rightly required for all truly modern pistols, increases
considerably the safety and easy use of the firearm.
In fact:
1 Without an exterior hammer, It is impossible for the user to know
whether his firearm is ready or not (or firing. At the moment of danger,
believing his pistol to be cocked, he will pull the trigger and, realizing
too late his error, will lose valuable time for the success of his shooting
and perhaps his life.

2 The reverse m i s t a k e is also v e r y possible, and believing his pistol

to be uncocked, the user can cause a t r a g i c accident.
3" It is always dangerous to carry, even in t h e safe p o s i t i o n , a
f i r e a r m w i t h a c a r t r i d g e in the barrel, w i t h t h e f i r i n g m e c h a n i s m remaining
cocked. In f a c t a knock, a d e f e c t i v e catching in t h e m e c h a n i s m , f r i c t i o n
in the pocket, a t h o u g h t l e s s m o v e m e n t , can cause t h e accident.
The e x t e r i o r h a m m e r a l l o w s t h e un-cocking of t h e f i r i n g m e c h a n i s m
and t h e carrying of t h e f i r e a r m in all safety. W h e n t h e m o m e n t comes t o
use it, a s i m p l e f l i c k of the t h u m b and the pistol is ready t o be f i r e d .
4 How to cock in the pocket, w i t h o u t

SLIDE STOP.
W i t h t h e Bcf p i s t o l , once the last cartridge has been f i r e d , the
remains open, t h u s i m m e d i a t e l y drawing the user's a t t e n t i o n that he

This is a valuable characteristic w h e n one is f i r i n g to defend
life, w i t h o u t counting the shots f i r e d , and that an e m p t y shot could
tragic consequences.

SAFETIES.
The UNIQUE p i s t o l , besides the safe use brought about by the visible
hammer, possesses 3 extra s a f e t i e s , t w o of w h i c h are entirely automatic
acting w i t h o u t the knowledge o f the shooter.
1 The f i r s t , called safety t h r o u g h t h e magazine consists of a
special device automatically putting t h e f i r e a r m at - s a f e - by the f a c t of
removing the magazine. A l l t h e f i r i n g mechanism is blocked and an
involuntary pressure of the t r i g g e r presents no danger. This type of safety,
required on all m i l i t a r y pistols, has established itself as the
most
e f f e c t i v e in the use of automatic f i r e a r m s , because it too often happens
that the shooter believes his f i r e a r m harmless once the magazine has
been removed and, handling it w i t h o u t suspicion, causes an accident.
2" The optional safety placed in the l e f t side of the f i r e a r m can
easily be operated by t h e t h u m b . Of a sure f u n c t i o n i n g , it instantaneously
makes t h e f i r e a m harmless. Two d o t s : red and w h i t e , international in(iicat i o n s , mark the positions w i t h o u t ambiguity. In the f i r i n g p o s i t i o n : the
safety lever is on the w h i t e dot (the red dot being v i s i b l e ) . In the safe
p o s i t i o n : the safety lever is on the red dot (the w h i t e dot being v i s i b l e } .
3 if, for some reason or another, the slide is not correctly
closed against the f r o n t a l w a l l of the barrel, f i r i n g is impossible (see
f i g . E ) . This provision eleminates the danger presented by the premature
f i r i n g of a cartridge w h i c h has not c o m p l e t e l y entered the chamber.
4" The hammer has been so designed t h a t f i r i n g is impossible
w i t h o u t the voluntary action of the shooter on t h e trigger. If, o w i n g
to a d e f e c t i v e engaging, a blow or any other reason, the cog of the
hammer
should accideifitally part f r o m t h e sear, the
latter
would
automatically engage the second cog of the hammer, known as the
safety cog. M o r e o v e r t h i s cog d e t e r m i n e s the rest position of the
hammer for the carrying of the f i r e a r m w i t h a cartridge in the barrel.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR

USE

TO REMOVE THE MAGAZINE.

Press the magazine catch at the base of the pistol grip and remove the magazine with
the forefinger, (see fig. 2).
TO LOAD THE MAGAZINE.
Holding the magazine in the left hand, take the cartridge between the thumb and
the forefinger of the right hand and slide it backwards between the lips of the magazine,
at the same time pressing downwards. Push the cartridge until the base contacts with
the flat edge of the magazine. A few light pats during the loading will facilitate the
correct placing of the cartridges the number of which cannot exceed 9 in the case of
calibre .32 and 8 in the .380 (the opening made in the lateral wall of the magazine
allows the checking of the number of cartridges inserted).
TO FEED AND COCK THE PISTOL.
Place the magazine In the pistol pushing It well home.
Holding the pistol-in the right hand, the forefinger resting along the trigger guard,
grasp the slide at the fluted part between the thumb and forefinger of the left hand;
draw it fully to the rear, then release it quickly; this introduces a cartridge into the
chamber an the pistol ir ready to be fired.
In the course of this operation and to avoid any accident, take the precaution of
pointing the pistol towards the target or to the ground.
FIRING.
Make sure that the safety catch covers the white dot (red dot being visible).
Hold the pistol firmly in the hand and press on the trigger. The bullet has already
left the barrel when the force of recoil of the gases on the catridge case causes it to
be ejected and also forces the slide rearwards and re-cocks the "pistol. The cartridge
case under the lip of the extractor strikes the ejector and is expelled.
The return of the slide to the front, under the effect of the recoil spring, feeds
a new cartridge into the chamber and the firearm is again ready for firing. This can be
repeated as rapidly as it is possible to press the trigger, until the cartridges are exhausted, which is immediately indicated by the engaging of the slide.
RE-LOADING
Engage the safety in the notch of the slide (fig. 1), and withdraw the magazine (fig. 2).
Insert a loaded magazine and press down the safety lever. The slide automatically moves
forward again and feeds a cartridge into the barrel: the firearms is thus instantaneously
ready for firing.
TO PUT THE PISTOL AT -SAFE..
Place the safety lever on the red dot (white dot being visible).
TO CARRY THE PISTOL LOADED
Holding the pistol in the right hand, hold back the hammer carefully with the thumb
and press lightly on the trigger; release the latter and allow the hammer to go forward
until it engages on the cog of the safety. When it is required to use the pistol again, it
is then only necessary to pull back the hammer with the thumb and the pistol is ready
for firing.
If, through fear of a thoughtless action on the hammer or the trigger, it is not desired to carry the firearm ready for immediate firing with a cartridge in the barrel, it must
not be forfotten when the moment of danger appears suddenly, to mancouvre the slide
in order to bring a cartridge into the barrel.
It is up to the shooter, according to the way he intends using the firearm and his
skill, to judge how to carry it for his greatest safety and that of his neighbours.
TO UNLOAD THE PISTOL
Withdraw the magazine as indicated above, which automatically put the pistol on
safe.i. If a cartridge remains in the chamber of the barrel, to extract it the pistol is
held in the right hand with the forefinger resting along the trigger guard and the slide
is drawn quickly to the rear, the cartridge will then be ejected.
MAINTENANCE OF THE FIREARM
After each time of firing, dismantle the pistol as indicated above and proceed with
a careful cleaning of the interior of the barrel, until all traces of powder have disappeared.
It is then greased preferably with special oil or grease for firearms.
The other parts: frame, slide, magazine, etc., are briefly cleaned then lightly oiled.
COMPLETE DISMANTLING OF THE PISTOL
This operation is only necessary in extremely rare cases. It must always be done
by a gunsmith.
NOTE. The pins must be extracted from right to left.
