REGULATION ORDINANCE NO. 2016-158


AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING BIG CARGO TRUCKS, DELIVERY VANS
AND BUSES (SIX- WHEELER OR MORE) FROM PASSING THROUGH SAN
ANTONIO AND SAN JUAN STREETS AT BRGY. SAN ANTONIO, MOLO,
ILOILOCITY
Sponsored by Councilor R Leone N. Gerochi, duly Seconded by
Councilors Liezl Joy Zulueta-Salazar, Joshua C. Alim and
Eduardo L. Pefiaredondo
WHEREAS, one of the causes that contribute to tpe deterioration of city roads are
big cargo trucks, delivery vans and buses that pass through the narrow road of San Juan
and San Antonio Streets by reason of the heavy weight of the vehicle and the cargo that
they are carrying;

WHEREAS, electrical wirings of electric and telecommunication companies have


also been destroyed since some of the delivery trucks are high enough to reach the
electrical wiring within the vicinity of Brgy. San Antonio, Molo, lloilo City;
WHEREAS, this big cargo trucks, delivery vans and buses tend to pass the narrow
San Juan and San Antonio Streets at high speed which endanger the lives of the residents;
WHEREAS, the circumstances and conditions of San Juan and San Antonio Streets
located at Barangay San Antonio make such roads unfit for passage of Six Wheeler vehicles
or more;

WHEREAS, on December 5, 2015, a Barangay Resolution No. 16, ISeries of2015 was
passed by the Brgy. Council of San Antonio, Malo, entitled "A resolution prohibiting all big
cargo trucks, deliver vans and buses to pass through San Antonio and San Juan Street of
Brgy. San Antonio, Molo, Iloilo City.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Sangguniang Panlungsod of the City of
Iloilo, that:

Section 1. - Cargo trucks, delivery vans and buses having six wheels or more are
prohibited to enter San Juan and San Antonio Streets at Barangay San Antonio, Malo, Iloilo
City;
Section 2. - The passage of the subject vehicles may be allowed only by reason of
emergencies such as fires, police matters and medical emergencies;
Section 3. - Penalty. - Any person including the driver who will violate any of the
provisions of this ordinance shall be fined PS00.00 for first offenses, Pl,000.00 for second
offense and P5,000.00 for third offenses and/or two (2) days of imprisonment at the
discretion of the court or both;
Section 4. - This ordinance shall take effect immediately upon approval.
