States of Consciousness Sleep & Dreams Summative Assessment

Assessment is worth 60 points


10 point deduction for each day that the
assignment is late.
Objective: Working individually or with a partner (NOTE only two people can work
together) you will create a brochure/book about Sleep and Dreams from a
psychological/neuroscience perspective.
You will use your own words (cutting and pasting whole or parts of paragraphs is
unacceptable) to describe the following items:

Descriptions of each of the stages of sleep


Description of the regions of the brain involved in sleep
Description of the neurotransmitters involved in sleep

The functions of sleep

The medical/biological results of sleep deprivation

Description of two different Sleep Disorders

Function/purpose of Dreams

Description of Sigmund Freuds Wish Fulfillment Theory

Description of the Activation-Synthesis Theory

Look of the Book Brochure/:

Title/Cover page (come up with a creative title for your book/brochure)


Table of Contents
Must include at least 6 visuals (this could be graphs, charts, photos, etc.)
Focus on presentation.creative, neat, and professional
At least five sources are used.
Work cited page (detail list of EVERY online resource or textbook resource that you used)

in a grade of zero.
