Is Colombia a racist country?

Colombia's cultural diversity is due to the colonization by the Spaniards, but with
them came also, racism for the country. Colombians are racist towards AfroColombians and indigenous, but what people should consider is that almost all the
inhabitants are Afro-Colombian or indigenous descent.
It is common to see on the streets "white people" criticize people of color, or
discriminating against them, making racist comments or jokes related to the
subject, as if originally, the region where the nation stands, was white population
but this is not reality. The region where Colombia is located, was initially populated
by indigenous tribes, although they had a strong regionalism, all belonged to the
same race and had similar religious currents.
When the conquistadors arrived in the region, they plundered the indigenous land,
making clear to the indigenous culture and religion as evil and hiding behind
Christianity to commit their heinous acts. According to records, in 1535 there was a
population of about 4,000,000 people, and for 1560, the population was just under
1,260,000 people, with the arrival of the Spaniards, total slaughter and the birth of
violence, which he has consistently marked Colombian history. Since these times
where the Spaniards implanted fear and hatred of the different races, has taught
racism and sometimes, it is intended that indigenous or Afro-Colombians, have a
lower intellect to other people, even knowing that the mestizo Colombian
population mostly come from them.
Racism is not only marked in Colombia, also in most countries there is that hatred
of different races and although in 1851 slavery was abolished, there are still cases
of abuse towards African and indigenous populations. Both is racism, there are
countless films based on the theme, some illustrating that black people are a
problem, some others with hidden racism among its images and also others that
show that racism is stupid and wrong.
As expected, Colombia consumes films produced in Hollywood some racist hatred
allowing different ethnic groups, continue to grow. It's funny to note that, although
people with white skin, feel superior to black, Afro-Colombians are those who excel
in the sports theme (Selection Colombia, Olympics), in the intellectual field (Manuel
Zapata Olivella, Arnaldo Palacios, Mary Grueso) and the arts (Alejo Duran, Jairo
Varela, Joe arroyo).
It is not known if the Colombian locked in ignorance of racism, realize that
Colombia is a multicultural country, but what if one can say, is that every day more
Afro-Colombians continue to demonstrate that there is diversity and talent for all in
Colombia.
