ONGC
(Contractor)
(Owner)
As the division (T&OS-OS ONGC) deals with the ONGC owned vessels, it becomes
customer/client of the division.
And hence, it is very important to have a healthy relation with ONGC, to keep the
customer happy and satisfied.
It has to maintain relations for and through;
o Monthly meeting.
o Daily reviews.
o Spares sanctioning (foreign spares, spares more than 5 lacks)
o Financial reports
2) OEM
It has to identify and/or its authorized distributor for procurement of critical spare
parts.
It has to communicate with OEM for receiving quotations, placing orders, delivery

SUGGESTIONS
Page
Page
Page
SCI is the premier shipping company in India, owned by the Government of India.
Procurement of generic spare is done through original manufacturer or from its
authorized distributors only. This reduces breakdown in vessels.
Fewer breakdowns in vessels increase earning capacity of the vessels.
Fewer breakdowns keep the vessels in operations and hence the productivity of
vessels also increases.
The delay in procurement and delivery of spares is largely due to custom
clearance and delivery.
Delay in delivery of critical spares may affect the sea worthiness and its
operational capability.
