iii. Use the trowel to apply the adhesive/mortar over the whole board. The thickness
of the adhesive should be uniform throughout the wall, as otherwise final finish
will not be made even. An even layer of adhesive will also help to create a
uniform layer on the wall.
iv. After the adhesive is applied on the polystyrene sheets, boards will be installed
horizontally on the wall in running bond pattern. Consequently, it should be
started installing the boards from the bottom corner of the wall, using a full
sheet.
v. Make sure the sheet are aligned perfectly. press them gently, as to lock them to
the wall. Afterwards, you have to use a level to check if the wall is perfectly
plumb, as after the mortar dries out, it will be impossible to repair the mistake.
vi. The next row should be installed vertically, as to give better strength to the
insulation. Work carefully, as to make sure the boards are level and aligned
properly.
vii. For smaller piece at the end than a full board, hand saw will be used to make the
cut. Dont leave gaps between the polystyrene sheets.
viii. After it is made sure that the adhesive/mortar has dried up. Fiber Mesh will be
fixed at the XPS Board. Holes will be drilled in the wall through the XPS Plate, as
to install the special dowels/mechanical fasteners.
ix. These fasteners will be inserted at the intersection of the board and center of the
board for full strength. The diameter of the holes will depend on the fastener
provided by the manufacturer.
x. Further Projections on the wall surfaces will be chipped off and cleaned.
xi. Layer of Cement Sand Mortar (20 mm) will be applied on the even surface and
finish of the surface will be rendered plain.

6. Control Measures:

Experienced supervisory staff will be employed for carrying out the work.

Selected masons will be engaged for plastering work.

Verticality and alignment of walls will be checked while plastering.

Mixing of mortar will be done under the supervision of foremen.

Sieved sand will be used for plaster.
