Introduction:
Pray. Take a moment to pray asking God to guide you in reflecting upon the Scripture text.
Read the Scripture text of Zephaniah 3:14-17
A summary of the sermon:
The Prophet Zephaniah ministered during a time when Gods people had grown complacent.
In the midst of some very strong, uncomfortable words of truth, God through his prophet
calls his people to sing, but also reminds them that God himself is in their midst as the might one
who will save, who rejoices over them with gladness, who quiets them by his love, and who will exult
over them with loud singing.
Questions:
1. How does this text speak to your heart?

How are you challenged, convicted, encouraged, surprised by this text?

What makes it hard for you personally to believe that God wants his people to believe this? What is the
cost if you dont believe this?
How does this text help me understand the Good News of Jesus, and how he has displayed the love of
God for his people?
2. How does this text speak to us as a church community?

What would it look like for us a church community if we are to live out this text in our city? What would
we need to change?

How does this text challenge our church culture?

3. How does this text speak to our city?
What kind of new life / future in Christ is this text calling our city to experience?
How do we communicate this truth about God, but not miscommunicate the truth by making it mere
sentimentality.
Conclusion:

What is the one thing you want to take away from this study to remember or to make a change in your
life? How does this text help you understand your need for Jesus? How does this text challenge you to
follow him?
