QUALITY PRIVATE INSTITUTIONS

AS Malaysias leading private

institution and the peoples
preferred education establishment
for more than 45 years, Taylors
has always strived to work closely
with parents in bringing out the
best in their children.
All students are guided to
develop learning, life and
leadership skills to help them
achieve success in their careers
and create an impactful life.
With a holistic educational
approach, the Taylors team helps
students discover their strengths
and passion to bring out the best
in every student.
When it comes to helping their
children choose a college, todays
parents need to remember that top
employers often consider an
excellent academic track record to
be a must.
Parents should look at
colleges that offer purposeful
environments and foster an
enterprising spirit among students
as this helps them develop
attributes, capabilities and skills
that enhance their employability.
Having an enterprising spirit
means cultivating skills that enable
them to be enterprising in all
aspects of their lives far beyond
just their careers.
Taylors College has always
maintained its excellent track
record in academics and services,
which is acknowledged through
various prestigious awards
received.
One such recognition is the
MyQuest (Malaysian Quality
Evaluation Systems) ratings that
recognise excellence in private

Tradition of
excellence
tertiary education, in which
Taylors College received a six-star
rating by the Higher Education
Ministry.
Taylors College maintains its top
ranking by being the only private
college to be awarded six stars
(outstanding) since its introduction.
MyQuest was incepted in 2010
and its rating process is conducted
every two years.
Taylors College received six stars
for overall college-based, clusterbased (general programmes) and
international student services
ratings.
This landmark achievement
marks the third consecutive time
Taylors College Subang Jaya
achieved the six-star rating in the
MyQuest evaluation and the
second consecutive six-star rating
for the Taylors College Sri
Hartamas campus.
The MyQuest rating, awarded by
the Higher Education Ministry, is
an instrument to evaluate the
current performance of private
colleges in the aspect of quality
students, programmes, graduates,
resources and governance.
MyQuest addresses three of the
Higher Education Ministrys Key
Result Areas to increase access to

quality higher education,

graduate employability and the
internationalisation of higher
education.
We are proud that the MyQuest
six-star rating reaffirms the results
of Taylors hard work and are
definitely using this recognition as
motivation to further improve the
institution.
This achievement is yet another
honour added to the rich heritage
and a testament to the efforts in
sustaining Taylors reputation as a
leader in pre-university education,
says Khoo Li-Lin, academic director
of Taylors College.
Taylors College believes in
the importance of ratings in
keeping track of and reflecting the
performance and achievements of
the college.
Ratings provide parents and
students with a useful guideline
to make informed decisions on
the best choice that is available to
them.
Every year, we strive to make
it an approachable environment
where students excel. At Taylors
College, we implement various
integration programmes for
students to ensure that they

enhance their leadership and life
skills, says Anandakumaresh
Ratnasingam, campus director of
Taylors College Sri Hartamas.
With a proactive and highly
efficient management system in
place, Taylors is able to
continuously improve its
approach and quality to achieve
the outstanding ratings from the
Higher Education Ministry.
Private colleges and
universities in Malaysia were
audited by a team of
independent auditors appointed
by the Education Ministry, who
made visits to the institutions
over the last few months.
The evaluation provides
Malaysian private colleges with a
benchmark target to improve on
the quality of education. This, in
turn, augurs well for the nation
as it seeks to become an
international education hub.
As both a pioneer in the area
of pre-university studies in
Malaysia as well as the current
leader in the field, Taylors

College takes its responsibility

in giving its students the best
head start to their future very
seriously.
The importance of providing
the right start in quality learning,
strong student support and
placing students in the university
of their choice cannot be
overstated. Taylors commitment
to academic excellence and
personal development support
will take students a long way in
their lives, beyond just a good
career, concludes Khoo.
The classification of the
rating outcomes are six stars
(outstanding), five stars
(excellent), four stars (very good),
three stars (good), two stars
(satisfactory) and one star (poor).

Business and
accounting
pioneer
ESTABLISHED in 1984, Binary College Kuala
Lumpur (BCKL) is a name synonymous with
business and accounting education in
Malaysia.
Since its inception, BCKL has remained a
specialist college for business and offers
accounting, business administration, retail,
tourism and marketing programmes.
In the Malaysian Quality Evaluation
System for Private Colleges (MyQuest)
2014/2015 conducted by the Higher
Education Ministry, BCKL was rated a
five-star college.
BCKLs graduates are highly employable.
More than 90% of last years graduates were
hired within the first three months of
graduation, says Datin Dr Rohini Devi,
chief executive officer of BCKL.
Our graduates are very marketable
because as a focused business school, we
equip our graduates with industry-relevant
skills that employers look for.
Apart from employability, she says
that students and parents should seek
information on accreditation, cost,
specialisation and career prospects when
considering a college.
One of the most important factors that
parents and students should pay attention
to is whether the degree or diploma the
student wishes to pursue is recognised by
JPA (Public Services Department) and
accredited by MQA (Malaysian Qualifications
Agency), she adds.
SPM school-leavers can begin their study
by pursuing any of the diploma-level courses
whereas STPM school-leavers can embark
on the BA (Hons) Business Management
programme.
While there are hundreds of business
degrees and diplomas in the Klang Valley,

Binary founder and executive chairman Datuk

Prof Joseph Adaikalam (left) awarding Nithya

the Binary BA (Hons) Business Management
and Diploma in Business Administration
(DBA) are unique in that they offer industry
pathways, says general manager Shehan
Cooray.
According to him, the industry pathway
allows students to specialise in the tourism,
financial services and retail sectors, among
others.
Students get to do lots of practicaloriented projects to enhance their knowledge
of specific industries and acquire vocational
skills in these areas.
On the other hand, the functional
pathway allows students to specialise in the
areas of marketing and human resource
management, he says.
The Diploma in Accounting is fully
accredited by MQA and provides direct entry
into the second year of the BA (Hons) in
Accounting, which is offered by thesister
institution Binary University, and is triple
accredited by MQA, CPA (Australia) and
Association of Chartered Certified
Accountants.
Most of our graduates get jobs even
before graduation because the qualifications
offered by Binary meet the needs of the
employers. As a specialised institution, we
are able to provide you the best at an
affordable cost, concludes Shehan.
The next intake is on Nov 23.

Previously, the institution received

year in the college-based large category.
It truly reinforces KDUs position as a
premier tertiary education institution in
the northern region and gives parents and

making the right choice in choosing KDU.
To complement the MyQuest rating, KDU
Penang attained university college status
soon after and has been known as KDU

from two leading institutions of higher
learning.
The flagship dual-award degrees offer
students an outstanding educational
experience in which students not only
