Tower cranes

Tower cranes are used mainly in erection of apartment, civil and

high-rise industrial building.

Main advantages of these are stability and large reach of hook.

Mass construction is done by these with capacity of 3 to 10 tones.

In modern tower cranes, having a slew able tower, all the

mechanisms and the counterweight are located in the bottom part, on
a turntable, designed to increase the stability of the crane.
Such cranes are mobile, when assembled they may be towed by a
truck; tower cranes may be assembled and dismentatled in just a few
hours time.

 Tower cranes provided with self-lifting booms, which lift and move
loads horizontally, or a boom with a load lifting trolly installations of
great height built of heavy prefabricated constructions blast furnace
complexes, open-hearth furnace shops and others) are erected with
heavy tower cranes having a lifting capacity of 10 to 75 tons, a lift
height up to 96 m and a hook reach up to 50 m.
when using rail-mounted tower cranes, care should be exercised to
prevent loss of stability by cranes under the action of wind loads or
through overloading
