Dear Mr. McKee:

We recently received an inquiry from a concerned organization, CORALations, regarding the referenced
project, and the status of the Federal Emergency Management Agencys (FEMAs) compliance with
Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) and its implementing regulations,
Protection of Historic Properties (36 CFR Part 800). A copy of the letter from the organization is
enclosed for your information.
In order to reply to the concerns raised in the letter, we request that FEMA provide the background
documentation outlined in 36 CFR Part 800.11(d-e) documenting the steps it has taken to comply with the
requirements of the Section 106 review process. We are particularly interested in how FEMA identified
and engaged consulting parties and the public, and its responses to any comments that were submitted.
This information will assist us in responding to the enclosed inquiry. Further, it will enable us to advise
FEMA regarding the appropriate next steps, if any, it should take to conclude the Section 106 review
process.
We thank you in advance for your prompt attention to this matter. Should you have any questions, please
contact Ms. Jaime Loichinger at 202-517-0219 or via e-mail at jloichinger@achp.gov.
Sincerely,

Charlene Dwin Vaughn, AICP
