1. Seope*
Ll This specification? covers a mumber of grades of
nominal-wall-taickness, stainless steel tubing for general
ccrroeion-revisting and high-lermpemture vervioe Meet of these
grades are commnouly known asthe “straight-chromiums” types
an are characterized by being ferroraguetia Two af these
grades, TP410 and UNS $ 41500 (Table 1), are amenable to
Foedening by heat treatraent, and the highechnoraium, ferntic
alloys are sensttive to acto beitleness on slow coaling to
ordinary teraperatures, These features should be reoagnized in
the use of these materials, Grade TE439 is used primarily for
hot-water tank servioe and dees aot quire poet-weld heat
treatment to prevent attack of the heat affected zone,
1.2 An cptional supplementary requizeracat is provided, and
oihen desited, shall he eo stated sa the order
1.3 Tae values stated in eitaer inch-poand asits or $1 units
are to be regarded separately ax andere, Within the text, the
ST unks ate shown in brackets, The values stated in cach
fayotem are not exze! equivalents; therefore, each aystem ranet
bbe used independently af the other. Combining values fromthe
wo aystems may remlt in nonoonforeranae with the speatiie
cation, The inch-poand units shall apply ualess the “Ml”
