called crazy story. Write one
word on a piece of paper, that
word should be an adjective.
Once you are done I will start a
story and you will continue it. It
should be have an ending. You
must use the word that you
write. The word can be put in
any part of your line. After the

teacher that they are ready.

It was really fun

Again what is the topic for

today?
2. Analysis

Lets have the word tall

Degrees of comparison of
adjectives

Please read the sentence

We know that the word is and
adjective that describes the
noun April
But what happens when we will
compare April to someone
else?

April is a tall student.

When you compare April to

someone else you have to
use the comparative degree.
This means that the adjective
will change. And we need to
add the word than after the
adjective in comparative
degree
Now! What will happen to the
adjective we want to
compare more than 2 things?
Lets say we want to
compare Jhona, April, and
Aira
We would then use the
adjective in superlative form
Now class tell me how many
syllable in the word TALL
What can you say about
changing positive degree to
comparative?

Jhona is taller than April

Jhona is the tallest student among

the three.

Only one

How about the word funny?

One syllable adjectives form into

comparative by adding er at the
end of the word.

How about the word Simple

Change to funnier

Tell me how many syllable in

the word SIMPLE

simpler

What did you notice about

changing two syllable word in
comparative degree?

There are 2 syllable

Give me a three syllable

adjective word

Still the same, adding er at the

end of the word

Do you notice that is sounds

wrong when you add er on
the word?
Because three syllable words
are different, we can change
them to comparative degree
by adding the word more
before the adjective

Will give three syllable word.

(adjective)
Yes sir

Example: the word intelligent. Riza is more intelligent than Jhona.

Read the sentence
Notice the word than is still
present? It should be always
added when you are
comparing 2 object.
Now lets go to superlative
form from the first example.
The word Tall becomes Taller
in comparative and Tallest in
superlative, Can you now
state the rule on how to
change the word into
superlative degree?
How about the three
syllable? Our word is
Intelligent and the
comparative degree is more
intelligent.
Read the example

If the word is a one syllable or 2

syllable. Add est at the end of the
word.

Jona is the most intelligent among

the third year students.
most

What did we add before the

adjective?
Therefore the rule is?

Try to change this word

(GOOD) to comparative
degree and superlative
degree
This word is a one syllable
word but It cannot be change
by adding er or est at the
end. This are call irregular
words.
Read the example

Three syllable word can be form to

superlative degree by adding the
word most before the word.

Try to add er on the word

Positive/Comparative/Superlative
good / better than / the best
bad / worse than / the worst
far / farther than /
the farthest

3. Abstraction

Positive degree.
When we speak about only
one person or thing, We use the
positive degree.
Comparative degree.
When we compare two
persons or two things with each

word
Add more before the word
