Chapter 1
License Overview
A license is an agreement that involves the authorization on the features, capacity, version,
and usage of a product. By purchasing different licenses, operators can select network
functions flexibly to protect investment greatly.
Figure 1-1 shows the license application. After the OMC delivers parameters, some
parameters should be authenticated by the OMC, while some parameters should be
authenticated by the corresponding Base Station (BS).

OMC level: The license authentication is implemented for the network-wide BSs. It is
implemented by the independent license center that is connected to the OMC.
BS level: The license authentication is implemented by each BS, which is connected
to the OMC.
Correspondingly, the operations on licenses are also divided into the OMC-level and
BS-level operations.

Prerequisite
The license server is started.
Steps
1. Enter the installation directory, and run the following command to start the client:
l In the Windows operating system, enter \licensecenter\client, and then
double-click client.exe.
l In other system, enter licensecenter/client, and then run sh run.sh.
The splash screen is displayed. The License Management Config dialog box is
displayed later, see Figure 3-1.

Note:
To prevent unauthenticated user access, you can modify the login password in the
license center through the following steps:
In the license management window, select System > Change Password.
Change Login Password dialog box is displayed.
The
Enter the original password in the Old Password text box, the new password in the
New Password and Confirm Password text boxes respectively. Click OK.

1. In the license management window, select Report > View Report. The License
Usage Status tab is displayed, see Figure 3-3.

If no license file is loaded in the license center, the License Usage Status tab is empty.
2. Click
, and then select a license file from the pop-up dialog box.
The information of the file imported successfully is displayed on the License Usage
Status tab for side-by-side comparison with the current license information, see Figure
3-4.

Note:
The License ID of the license file must be greater than that in the license center.
If the current date exceeds the activation deadline, the Upload button is unavailable,
which means that the license file cannot be uploaded to the license center.
The Prompt dialog box is displayed after the file is uploaded successfully.

1. On the License Usage Status tab, select the product about which you want to view
the license information from the drop-down menu in the upper-right corner, see Figure
3-5.

Prerequisite
The Configuration Management tab is displayed.
Steps
1. Select Configuration Management > Special Function of Standard >
SubNetwork Level License Pre-authentication. The SubNetwork Level License
Pre-authentication dialog box is displayed, see Figure 3-6.

2. Select the target NE and the corresponding radio standard, and then click
Authentication.

The pre-authentication result is displayed in the text area at the bottom of the dialog
box, see Figure 3-7.

3. (Optional) Open the local file to view the pre-authentication result after a message box
is displayed, indicating that the pre-authentication result is exported to the local disk.

Prerequisite
The NE agent is started.
Steps
1. Right-click the NE agent and select NE Management > LTE eNodeB Level License
Management. The LTE eNodeB Level License Management tab is displayed, see
Figure 4-1.

2. Click the Load License File node in the left tree. The corresponding tab is displayed.
3. Click
. The Open dialog box is displayed, see Figure 4-2. Select the license file to
be imported, and then click Open.

Note:
License files with *.zip or *.LCS format can be imported in batches.
The selected License record appears in the Need Confirm Task area.

2. Select an NE.
Note:
The NE that has no license file is not displayed in the NE area.
After you select an NE, the license files applicable to the NE are displayed.
Universal file: Such files are applicable to all NEs, which can be loaded in batches.
Private file: Such files are applicable to a single NE, which can be loaded in
batches.
If you want to reload a private file to an NE, you can select Reload Private File.
The imported and loaded license files are displayed in the Select File area. You
can select one file.
4. Click Load to load the selected license file to the corresponding BS.
If the file is loaded successfully, the result is displayed in the Loaded Result List
area. If something needs to be confirmed, determine whether to continue loading this
file according to the information shown in the Need Confirm Task area, see Figure
4-4.

If you determine to load the corresponding file, select the record, and then click
Forced Load.
If you determine not to load the corresponding file, select the record, and then
click Cancel or wait for about 10 minutes until the system cancels this loading.

Online query:You can query information about the license file that has been loaded to
each BS.
Offline query:You can query information about the license files that have not been
loaded.

1. On the LTE eNodeB Level License Management tab, click a query node in the left
management tree to query the license information, see Figure 4-5.

1. Select Configuration Management > Special Function of Standard > LTE eNodeB
Level License Pre-authentication from the menu bar. The LTE eNodeB Level
License Pre-authentication dialog box is displayed, see Figure 4-9.

2. In the left pane of the LTE eNodeB Level License Pre-authentication dialog
box, select an NE to be pre-authenticated. In the Pre-authentication options
area, select Licenses working on eNodeBs and Modify area, and then click the
Pre-authentication button.
3. View the pre-authentication result in the result area, see Figure 4-10.

4. (Optional) Double-click the result item and view the details of the pre-authentication
result in the Details dialog box.
5. (Optional) Click the Export button to export the pre-authentication result to the local
disk.

2. In the left pane of the LTE eNodeB Level License Pre-authentication dialog box,
select an NE to be pre-authenticated. In the Pre-authentication options area, select
Licenses to import and Modify area or Snapshot area.
Note:
If you select Modify area, the license file to be imported is compared with the data in
the modification area. If you select Snapshot area, the license file to be imported is
compared with the data in the snapshot area.
3. Click the Browse button, select a local license file to be imported from the Open dialog
box, and then click the Pre-authentication button in the LTE eNodeB Level License
Pre-authentication dialog box.
4. In the result area, view the pre-authentication result and detailed information about the
functions that fail to be pre-authenticated, see Figure 4-12.

5. (Optional) Double-click the result item and view the details of the pre-authentication
result in the Details dialog box.
6. (Optional) Click the Export button to export the pre-authentication result to the local
disk.

Note:
Only system administrators can use this command at a certain frequency, so use this
command with great caution.
