Chapter 1

License Overview
A license is an agreement that involves the authorization on the features, capacity, version,
and usage of a product. By purchasing different licenses, operators can select network
functions flexibly to protect investment greatly.
Figure 1-1 shows the license application. After the OMC delivers parameters, some
parameters should be authenticated by the OMC, while some parameters should be
authenticated by the corresponding Base Station (BS).
l
l

OMC level: The license authentication is implemented for the network-wide BSs. It is
implemented by the independent license center that is connected to the OMC.
BS level: The license authentication is implemented by each BS, which is connected
to the OMC.

Figure 1-1 License Application

Correspondingly, the operations on licenses are also divided into the OMC-level and
BS-level operations.

3.5 Performing Pre-Authentication

To improve the configuration efficiency, the OMC provides the license pre-authentication
function. Before data synchronization, you can send the authentication data to the license
center for pre-authentication. This operation makes you know the configurations that do
not meet the license requirements in advance. The pre-authentication does not affect the
authentication result in the license center.

Prerequisite
The Configuration Management tab is displayed.

Steps
1. Select Configuration Management > Special Function of Standard >
SubNetwork Level License Pre-authentication. The SubNetwork Level License
Pre-authentication dialog box is displayed, see Figure 3-6.

4.4 LTE BS-Level License Pre-Authentication

Pre-authentication of LTE BS-level licenses includes pre-authentication of licenses to be
imported and pre-authentication of licenses running on BSs.
l

Pre-authentication of licenses running on BSs:It is used to find inconsistencies

between the data in the modification area and the active license file for users to
adjust parameters in advance if the configuration data is beyond the range restricted
by the license file. It can improve the operation and maintenance efficiency of site
commissioning.
Pre-authentication of licenses to be imported:It is used to find inconsistencies between
the new license file and the data of the existing network or the data displayed in the
modification area for users to determine whether to apply a new license file again or
adjust configuration data.

4.4.1 Pre-Authentication of Licenses Running on BSs

Pre-authentication of licenses running on BSs can help users to find inconsistencies
between the data in the modification area and the active license file. This procedure
describes how to pre-authenticate a license file running on a BS.

Prerequisite
l
l

The Configuration Management tab is displayed.
