Allthematerialsarecarbonsteelsforstructuralpurposes,buttherearesomedifferencesamongthem.
C35Ehasacontrolledcomposition(about0.35%Candmax0.035%S)andaveragemechanicalpropertiesthatmakeit
suitableforawiderangeofapplications,mainlyinthemachineryindustry(forgings,seamlesstubes,andmoderatelyhigh
temperatureapplicationssuchasfastenersandflanges).Whenhighermechanicalpropertiesareneeded,itcanbequench
hardenedandtempered,too.
Alltheothermaterialsinthelistarestructuralsteelswhosemainrequirementisagoodcombinationofweldabilityandnearly
isotropicmechanicalproperties(yieldstrengthranging250MPaforASTMA36to355MPaforS355JR).Ofcourseasthesteel
getsstrongeritbecomeslessweldable.Theyaretypicallydeliveredinthenormalised(+N)orasrolled(+AR)conditions.
So,dependingontheshapeandtheapplicationthematerialisintendedfor,thedifferencescanbesmalltofairlyperceivable.
