Course Title : Assessment of Student Learning

Course Description:
This course introduces would-be-teachers to the to the complex nature of assessment
of learning outcomes. In particular, this subject will enable the students to measure significant
learner achievement, growth and development, and reflect what learners can do and cannot
do. This should enable them to develop productive assessment and accountability systems.
They should learn how to collect data and evaluate data through varied assessment strategies.
This includes how tests are developed and test items are improved, how educational are
described and test results are interpreted, and more importantly how grades are made and
how grades are reported.

IV.

Course Objectives: At the end of the course, the student can:


Cognitive (Knowledge)
1. Show understanding of the basic concepts and principles of quality
assessment.
2. Use appropriate assessment tools to assess varied learning
competencies.
3. Formulate sound instructional decisions based on assessment results.
Affective (Attitude)
1. Value the importance of using appropriate assessment tools to assess
students learning.
Psychomotor (Skills)
1. Show greater skill in utilizing and interpreting test results.
