Reflection
Completing this assignment about my health and wellness has been very
interesting and beneficial for me. I am currently in my third trimester with my second
pregnancy, and I have been worrying a lot about this issue. Due to my pregnancy, I based
my answers on my health and well-being prior to the pregnancy to get a more accurate
look at what I need to do and improve on after the baby arrives.
I really enjoyed creating a survey of my own that I believe would be beneficial in
my workplace. Sometimes surveys dont turn out to be as accurate as they should be
because they arent focused specifically on your area of interest or need. In this exercise,

I definitely saw more accurate results in the survey that I created geared towards my
specific work place.
In my first assessment I scored low (need improvement) in the following areas:
Self Care, Emotional management and intellectual wellness. In my second assessment
(although I scored much higher than in the first assessment) I still scored lower in the
areas of environmental, physical and emotional. Some strategies for change I can make in
these areas are eating healthier, balancing my workload and time, and focusing more on
environmental health and awareness. In order to eat healthier, I can create a meal plan in
which I make sure to add every food group and eat three times a day with a snack or two.
This is something I havent previously been doing due to my busy work schedule. In
order to manage my workload and time more efficiently I can work on decreasing my
procrastination and planning a better schedule for myself. I currently to homework when
Im not super exhausted from working and my normal daily life. I try to do a little bit
every night, which takes away from doing anything with my family. I might try working
more hours a few days a week so that I can have a few days free to spend time with my
family and balance my schedule better.
The areas that I feel I am successful at are occupational and social. I absolutely
love my job and I believe that due to the amount of work and heart I put into it, I am very
good at what I do. I am also a very social person, and I love to work with and get along
with others, especially in the work place.
I do not think that the first assessment I took was very accurate and true state of
my wellness. The assessment wasnt geared completely towards me as the audience, and
for that reason, some of my scores were a bit off. The second assessment that I created

myself was geared towards my specific workplace and me. For this reason, I think its
scores were much more accurate. Using an assessment more like the one I created can
help to lead my workplace towards a more healthy and active lifestyle. I believe that once
people are more aware of their health and wellness, they are more willing to make
changes. If I created a health awareness week at my workplace, and had staff complete
my survey, I believe they would start to work towards goals of increasing their health and
wellness in the workplace. This exercise was very eye opening and came a great time in
my life where I am fully determined to make many of the changes I mentioned earlier.
