Question: Can I use the TWS-434 & RWS-434 RF

modules for serial communications..?
Answer: You bet. Click HERE for a complete project
using these modules to control a hobby robot using a PC
joystick with PicBasic & asynchronous serial control
techniques.
Question: Where can I buy the TWS-434 & RWS-434 RF
modules..?
Answer: Right HERE........

The TWS-434 and RWS-434 are extremely small, and are

excellent for applications requiring short-range RF remote
controls. The transmitter module is only 1/3 the size of a
standard postage stamp, and can easily be placed inside
a small plastic enclosure.
TWS-434: The transmitter output is up to 8mW at
433.92MHz with a range of approximately 400 foot (open
area) outdoors. Indoors, the range is approximately 200
foot, and will go through most walls.....

TWS-434A
The TWS-434 transmitter accepts both linear and digital
inputs, can operate from 1.5 to 12 Volts-DC, and makes
building a miniature hand-held RF transmitter very easy.
The TWS-434 is approximately the size of a standard
postage stamp.

Sample Transmitter Application Circuit

RWS-434: The receiver also operates at 433.92MHz, and

has a sensitivity of 3uV. The RWS-434 receiver operates
from 4.5 to 5.5 volts-DC, and has both linear and digital
outputs.

RWS-434 Receiver

RWS-434 Pin Diagram

Note: For maximum range, the recommended antenna
should be approximately 35cm long. To convert from
centimeters to inches -- multiply by 0.3937. For 35cm,
the length in inches will be approximately 35cm x 0.3937
= 13.7795 inches long. We tested these modules using a
14", solid, 24 gauge hobby type wire, and reached a
range of over 400 foot. Your results may vary depending
on your surroundings.

Sample Receiver Application Circuit

The example above shows the receiver section using the

HT-12D decoder IC for a 4-bit RF remote control system.
The transmitter and receiver can also use the Holtek 8-bit
HT-640/HT-648L remote control encoder/decoder
combination for an 8-bit RF remote control system. Here
are the schematics for an 8-bit RF remote control system:

Adobe PDF format.

Driving Relays:
Using the outputs of the HT-12D or HT-648L decoder ICs
to drive relays is quite simple. Here are schematics

showing how to drive relays directly from the data-output

pins of the decoder.

NPN Relay Driver Circuit

PNP Relay Driver Circuit

TIP: Another option for driving relays would be to use a

high-voltage, high-current, Darlington array driver IC such
as the ULN2803. The ULN2803 can directly interface to
the data outputs of the decoder IC, and provides much
higher drive-current. The ULN2803 also has internal

diode protection that eliminates the need for the fly-back

diode as shown in the above relay driver schematics.
For your convenience, we have placed the complete
datasheet for the ULN2803 HERE.

We have the TWS-434 & RWS-434 RF

transmitters/receivers in-stock with plenty of Holtek
remote control ICs to get you started. Visit our new

4 Channel Auto Roll RF Remote Control Relay Board

This is a newer version of the original CK1616 which
includes resets on the board so you can use a switch to
reset the relay when using toggle mode. This is handy for
applications like a garage door where you would want the
motor to stop when the door is closed or open all the way.
This 4 channel remote control relay board is available as
a kit or assembled unit. The relay board uses "Rolling
Code" so it is nearly impossible to crack. Features pre
assembled and aligned RF modules, pre assembled keychain transmitter that only requires you to solder battery
clips and case. Receiver requires component mounting &
soldering. Receiver can "learn" up to 16 transmitters.
Transmitters can be used with multiple receivers. 4
channel output with Single Pole Double Throw (SPDT)
relays rated 10A @ 28VDC. Each output can
independently be made latching (Push-on/Push-off) or
momentary. Range exceeds 50meters. Transmitter uses

12V cell (included). Ideal for higher security garage doors,

auto gates, electric locks etc.
Specifications:
Range is over 50 Meters (~150 feet).
Transmits on 433.9 MHz
Transmitter comes fully assembled and includes
battery.
Receiver Power 12 VDC (power supply not included).
(Need a Power Supply?)
Circuit draws 8mA in idle state, 1 relay energized
44mA, 2 relays 78mA, 3 relays 111mA, and 4 relays
144mA.
Relays have a Common, Normally Closed (NC), and
Normally Open (NO).
Each Individual Relay is jumper selectable latching or
momentary.
Relay Contact Ratings: 240VAC 7Amps, 125VAC
10Amps, 28VDC 10Amps, (more info on how relays
work)
Has 4 resets for each relay.
Includes transmitter and receiver.
Transmitter Dimensions 2-1/4" L x 1-1/2" W x 1/2" H
Receiver Dimensions 3-3/8" L x 3" W x 1" H

Remote Control Products

RF Receiver Module RX433

Click these images for a larger view.
This compact radio frequency (RF) receiver module is
suitable for remote control or telemetry applications. The
double sided circuit board is pre-populated with Surface
Mount Devices (SMD) and is tuned to 433MHz. No module
assembly or adjustments are required. RF receiver
module RX433 receives RF control signals from the 8

channel RF remote control transmitter K8058 and

performs as an RF receiver interface when used on the 8
channel remote control relay board K8056. (Only
one RX433 RF receiver is needed for full RF remote
control operation of the 8 channel relay board K8056). RF
receiver module RX433 is a highly sensitive passive
design that is easy to implement with a low external parts
count. (Download datasheet with hook-up schematic
below)
RF remote receiver module RX433 can also be used with
433MHz RF Transmitter TX433N for your custom remote
control or telemetry requirements. (However, the FCC has
restrictions on the sale of the TX433N transmitter module
in the U.S., so we don't have these transmitters
available).
