SHOW
ENTHUSIASM
FOR
CHALLENGER
RJ
HARRIS
PRIMARY
WINNER
WILL
BE
THE
NEXT
CONGRESSMAN
Congressional
District
4
Candidate
RJ
Harris
won
over
voters
and
party
ocials
at
Friday,
June
11s
Cleveland
County
Candidate
Forum.
Harris
three
minute
speech
was
interrupted
mulMple
Mmes
by
enthusiasMc
outbursts
from
the
crowd
as
he
detailed
his
qualicaMons
and
reasons
for
running.
The
response
to
incumbent
Tom
Cole,
who
spoke
immediately
before
Harris,
was
far
less
enthusiasMc,
although
polite.
The
reacMon
is
likely
concerning
for
Cole,
as
the
forum
was
held
in
his
own
town
of
Moore.
There
was
a
surprising
anM-incumbent
senMment
there,
remarked
poliMcal
acMvist
Kaye
Beach.
This
senMment
likely
explains
Harris
strong
showing
in
the
straw
poll
of
42%
compared
to
Coles
58%.
The
poll
was
only
a
preliminary
indicator
of
aZendees
senMments
as
it
was
taken
prior
to
the
speeches
or
one-on-one
interacMons
with
voters
in
a
speed
daMng
format.
As
I
talked
to
voters
during
the
speed
round,
many
of
them
stated
that
they
would
have
voted
dierently
if
they
had
been
able
to
hear
both
speeches
before
the
ballots
were
collected,
stated
Harris.
Many
wanted
to
know
about
Harris
impending
deployment
for
the
Afghanistan
surge
and
were
pleased
to
hear
that
he
would
denitely
remain
in
Oklahoma
through
the
end
of
the
primary.
RJ
Harris
looks
forward
to
the
next
seven
weeks
of
campaigning
as
more
voters
focus
on
July
27
and
get
to
know
him
and
hear
his
message.
The
Fourth
District
race
is
likely
to
become
a
central
focus
of
aZenMon
by
many
as
no
Democrat
led
to
run
for
the
seat.
Therefore,
the
July
27
primary
will
determine
who
will
be
the
next
Congressman.
