Philosophy
We believe that God made man in His own image. One of these aspects is the ability to
create and communicate imaginatively. Technology affords the opportunity to
demonstrate these skills. WCS is committed to equipping students with academic
competency, creative and critical thinking skills, and the desire for lifelong learning. The
library/media center exists to fulfill this purpose and prepare students for the
technological age in which they live, able to navigate the ethical and moral issues
involved, and clearly communicate their ideas.

Demographics
Whittier Christian Schools are located in Whittier, California on two campuses that
include 2 preschools, 2 elementary schools, and 1 junior high. Most of the students come
from middle-class families within a 10-mile radius. The majority of students are
white/Caucasian and Hispanic, followed by a minority of Asian ethnicities. A small
minority of our students comes from Korea to study in the US, usually staying without
their parents. They come with limited English skills. Most of the families have
computers at home. A small minority does not have Internet access. Many of the
students are more computer-literate than their parents. Computer teachers encourage
students to share their knowledge at home, as well as promote software or computer
purchases to parents who have none.
