House Democrats:

You are being mocked by Attorney General Tom Corbett and the Republican Party.

In an interview today with the Associated Press' Peter Jackson, Corbett admits that it is nearly
certain that he will not bring charges against Republicans before the November elections:

"Pennsylvania's attorney general says the next round of arrests in the ``Bonusgate''
investigation will come either this month or after the election....Corbett said more arrests could
be made this month ``if all the dominoes fall in the right line.'' But he said he won't compromise
the investigation to meet an arbitrary timetable."

Not compromising for an arbitrary timetable? That is a cop-out similar to how President
Bush justifies his refusal to withdraw the troops from Iraq. Although, it makes sense that he
would sound like Bush given that Corbett runs the PA Office of Attorney General like Alberto
Gonzales.

Stop kidding yourselves! Corbett will not bring indictments against Republicans before the
election (or ever) unless you turn up the heat. Corbett reiterated today his self-imposed
moratorium on announcing any further charges from October 1 to the Election. That leaves 12
days in September for him to prove he isn't a partisan Republican.

Corbett is laughing at you because he is counting on you and your anemic leadership to sit idly
by as he does nothing and Republican House candidates continue to take pot shots at you and
your candidates. Here are two things to keep in mind:

#1 Corbett finds it hilarious that you actually believe he doesn't want to influence the
November elections. He continues to fail mentioning that on October 7th the preliminary
hearing against the House Democrats already charged will be chock full of new and politically
useful information for your opponents. His state funded political spokesperson, Kevin Harley,
has already promised the Post-Gazette on 7/29 that there will be new information, "The
hearing is likely to include testimony from witnesses and new details about the defendants'
alleged roles ...."

A perfect example is Rick Taylor's opponent who is anxiously waiting for this gift from Corbett.
Check out this press release from yesterday. I am sure these new details about will show up in
television commercials and direct mail against Rick.

#2 Corbett thinks the joke is on you because he believes he has the entire Democratic
establishment shaking in their boots for fear that they will be indicted like Veon and the others.
He thinks all of you are too afraid to push back and question his motives and conduct over not
just the Bonusgate investigation, but also his other actions as Attorney General.

Someone needs to ask the tough questions about the pending lawsuits against Corbett. Why
has Corbett been working overtime to settle the lawsuit, Thomas G. Eddy vs Thomas
Corbett, brought against him for illegally firing staff for political reasons? Is the contractor
mentioned in Thomas D. Kimmett vs Thomas Corbett, Brian Nutt, et al. a campaign contributor
to Corbett or Nutt's old boss Mike Fisher?

Push back! If Congressman John Conyers can do it in DC by asking the tough questions about
the Bush Justice Department under Alberto Gonzales then you can do it in Harrisburg by
publicly asking the tough questions about Pennsylvania's version of Alberto Gonzales, Tom
Corbett.
Don't count on that weak-kneed coward Bill DeWeese to be of any help to you. If he can't
stand up to Corbett because of some deal he's made, then you need to do it on your own. Fight
back not just for yourselves but the Democratic Party and what we stand for affordable health
care for all, increased funding for education, ending mandatory overtime for nurses, the list
goes on and on.

You have 12 days to demand Corbett stop being a partisan Republican prosecutor and live up to
his promise of a fair and equal investigation.
