HOW CAN WE DISCOVER THE PURPOSE WE WERE CREATED?

1. Speculation guessing i.e. Example of Dr. Hugh Moorhead What is

the meaning of life?
The purpose of life is far greater than personal fulfillment, peace of mind
or happiness; far greater that our family, career, dreams and ambitions.
Focusing on ourselves will never reveal our lifes purpose. In his hand is
the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind. Job. 12:10
2. Revelation - God himself; God is not only the starting point, he is the
source.
15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16
For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible
and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all
things were created by him and for him. 17 He is before all things, and in
him all things hold together. Col 1:15-17
- If you want to know why you are here on earth, we must begin with
God because we were born by his purpose and for his purpose.
- it is only in God that we discover our origin, our identity, our meaning,
our purpose, our significance and our destiny.
In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the
plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of
his will,
Eph 1:11-12
BENEFITS OF KNOWING YOUR PURPOSE
1. Knowing your purpose give meaning to your life
- We were made to have meaning. Without God, life has no purpose, and
without purpose, life has not meaning. Without meaning, life has no
significance or hope
2. Knowing your purpose simplifies your life.
- Without purpose, you have no foundation on which you base decisions,
allocate your time, and use your resources.
3. Knowing your purpose focuses your life

- Without a clear purpose, we will keep changing directions, jobs,

relationships, church or other externals hoping each change will
settle the confusion or fill the emptiness in your heart.
4. Knowing your purpose motivates your life.
-

purpose produces passion. Nothing energizes like a clear purpose.

On the other hand, passion dissipates when you lack a purpose.

5. Knowing your purpose prepares you for eternity.

-

- Achievements are eventually surpassed, records are broken,

reputations fade, and tributes are forgotten. Some people try to
create lasting legacy yet what matters is not what others say about
our life but what God says.
For when David had served Gods purpose in his own generation, he
fell asleep; he was buried with his fathers and his body decayed. Acts
13:36
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who
love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Romans
8:28

TWO MAJOR PURPOSE

1) We were created to have a personal relationship with God.
2) The ultimate goal of the universe is to show the glory of God. It is the
reason for everything that exists. Everything created by God reflects his
glory in some way.
HOW CAN WE BRING GLORY TO GOD.
1. We bring God glory by worshipping him.
- We worship God by enjoying him
- God wants our worship to be motivated by love, thanksgiving, and
delight, not duty.
2. We bring God glory by loving other believers.
- Following Christ is not just a matter of believing; it also includes
belonging and learning to love the family of God.
3. We bring God glory by become like Christ.

- Spiritual maturity is become like Jesus in the way we think, feel and
act. The more you develop Christ-like character, the more you will
bring glory to God.
4. We bring god glory by serving others with our gifts.
- each is uniquely designed by God with talents, gifts, skills and
abilities. God did not give you your abilities for selfish purposes.
5. We bring God glory by telling others about him.
- God doesnt want his love and purposes kept secret. Once we know
the truth, he expects us to share it with others.
