Writers in the Making pp27-99

In the school

Explain the task to your MST so she can try to highlight and include some of the strategies/aspects
you may need to consider

Decide what time(s) each day you will conduct this observation.

See if you can find out what the teacher plans to do each day by studying his/her plans, and talking
with them.

My MST taught the students phonics in each day have a new sound and letter, so she explained to
the phonics by cards include a picture of A =apple, C =caterpillar and I= insect. So the kids will
relate the concept with the letter. However the teacher lets the child discover the meaning of a
word by using as many senses as possible when introducing new words and concept, for example,
she taught them lava and slither, lead and stomp. As Readers and writers in the making and long
before they go to school. Young children can learn to spot letters important to them, such as the S
of Sesame Street or the z of the zoo, and begin to notice the general shape and length of familiar
words . The teacher always read stories to children because the distinguish the languages
through stories. During three weeks my MST read walking through the jungle story according to
Readers and writers in the making repeated readings thus enhance childrens awareness of basic
narrative elements. Asking children to retell a story in his words allows the teacher to determine
the Childs understanding and his familiarity with story elements and structure.

My MST very careful to improve the kid's language she taught them individually and each
week and more phonics cards to learn it at home she gives them a story have to read it at

home and evaluate them in class. Moreover, she brings Oxford books that teach students
reading she ask them to read it in a class individual with her.
She is also singing rhyming of the animals story and other activities she did it at class with
kids every day. Also, my teacher takes her children to the library and do group Storytime,
and when they return to class, they make a dramatic play like Cinderella, Snow White,
Witch, and Spiderman. They can be acting because the classroom environment allows for
them to walk it have space and cupboard include several clothes can kid wear it and
playing. It improves cooperatives and social skills with children. The children in KG2 were
creative in writing and drawing. I observed one girl she draws a rocket between stars in
the first time I think it planes however when I ask her she told me it a rocket, so I noted
the kids in this school have an Extensive knowledge not only they know a car, plane, bus.
The KG classes it a literate environment it has a lot of interest books and stories. The
reading area in class is comfortable and has a cassette player, headphone, so the child can
listen to the story if he wants. In the class, teacher displays childrens work. In another
side of class provide cups, stove, and plants all kitchen materials inside it so the kids can
act the chef role.

consider why you could implement these in a UAE primary classroom in the future. Explain
how these practices will affect student learning and reading levels in a primary class.
