Students will listen to a set of three 21st Century songs and work together to find
images that the artist uses to compare two unlike things.
1) Firework- Katy Perry
2) Lost In The World-Kanye West
3) Umbrella- Rihanna
Anticipatory Set (focus question/s that will be used to get students thinking about the days lesson)
Ask the question: Why do authors or artists use images in their writing?
Activating Prior Knowledge (what information will be shared with/among students to connect to prior
knowledge/experience) Students will be asked to describe the look, smell and feel of a set of
items that I will bring to class, using similes.
