MULTI-MEDIA AUTHORING TEMPLATE

Name: Ashley Mckinzie

PART A: Describe how students could create and publish an original movie, audio file, podcast, or vodcast in order to achieve
required learning standards. Challenge: For an A provide an idea where the learning activity reaches a LoTi level 4a or
above. To do this you will have to design a project where students engage in higher-order thinking and publish their work to an
audience that will use or care about the results. Broad feedback for their work is also a great way to boost interest and
performance.

SS5H8 The student will describe the importance of key people, events, and
developments between 1950-1975.
a. Discuss the importance of the Cuban Missile Crisis and the Vietnam War.
b. Explain the key events and people of the Civil Rights movement; include Brown
v. Board of Education (1954), the Montgomery Bus Boycott, the March on
Washington, Civil Rights Act, Voting Rights Act, and civil rights activities of
Thurgood Marshall, Rosa Parks, and Martin Luther King, Jr.
c. Describe the impact on American society of the assassinations of President John
F. Kennedy, Robert F. Kennedy, and Martin Luther King, Jr.
d. Discuss the significance of the technologies of television and space exploration.
Brief Description of Learning Experience:
Students will create a movie about a famous person in history they learned about. I would assign it as a end of course
project. They can choose any person from our history book. Students will show their movies to their other classmates.
Student Engagement/Higher-Order Thinking:
I would say this is a high order of thinking. Students will create and publish their own work. I would say LoTi level 5
Importance of technology:
Students would not be able to create their movies without this technology. It also is a great way to get students engaged
and excited.

Inspiration (optional): If you used existing multimedia projects as a model for your project (whether in part or whole),
include the URL(s) so we can visit. Explain what concepts you borrowed from others.

Internet Safety and Student Privacy:

Some possible issues could be students putting personal information about themselves or their families.
They may also give information that could allow people to know their whereabouts. I would have to stress
the importance of internet safety to my students. I would need to make sure they understood what is ok and
not ok for them to post. There would also need to be strict monitoring on their blogs.
