Description
Course
objectives
The course explores the technology that allows scientists to manipulate images in
order to bring out features and properties that had been previously difficult or
impossible to perceive.
Image processing combines high technology, information theory, and cognitive
issues in a way which is nothing short of spectacular; this course presents
fundamental concepts of digital image processing: image formation, image transform
theory and applications, enhancement, restoration, segmentation, encoding and
compression.
Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:
Acquire a sense of perspective about the theoretical foundation and applications
of digital image processing.
Discover, at a level of understanding, about the architecture and applications for
most of the work currently undertaken in this field
Explore and discuss the about theory of current and future areas of
application of digital image technology
Associate clear impression of the breadth and practical scope of
digital image processing
