Teen and Antidepressants
According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 62% of Americans
aged 12 and over who take antidepressants have done so for two years or longer; 14% have taken
them for 10 years or longer. Major depression is a common disorder affecting teens in the U.S.
Approximately 20% of teens experience depression before they reach adulthood. It has been
studied that the majority of antidepressants for teens and children are ineffective and it increases
the risk of suicide . Even though some people believe antidepressants should be prescribed
to teens, antidepressant drugs should not be prescribed for teens suffering from depression
because antidepressants are ineffective, antidepressants can be dangerous to teens, and
antidepressants can increase the risk of suicide in teens and children.
The discussion of teens using antidepressants is important because parents need to be
more aware of the dangers of antidepressants that being prescribed for teens can be
counterproductive. In 1950, the first purely antidepressant was found, antidepressants contain
chemicals that control mood, pain and other sensations. The drug provided relief to 60%-80%of
patients, although it caused them side effects like death of overdose.
Antidepressants should not be prescribed to teens because they increase the risk of
suicide. The majority of antidepressants given to teens are ineffective, therefore should not be
prescribed to teens or children.

According to the study Study: Most Antidepressants Don't Work for Young Patients the
quality of antidepressant drugs cannot be sure if they are effective or safe. Doctors have second
thoughts about prescribing antidepressants for young patients because some medications can be
harmful to developing their brains. It is a fact over years thousands people taking other
antidepressant drugs have committed violent acts, including suicide. Even though antidepressants
seem to be helpful for teens with mental depression they can be as dangerous as any other kind
of drug. Major depression is a common but serious mood disorder. Mental disorders like
depression is more than just a sad and hopeless feeling, makes teens feel worthlessness, sadness
and makes them feel like they do not matter.
Depressed teens often make jokes about suicide but this should be taking serious. The
evidence supports this because it has been studied that mental depression causes tees to commit
suicide because they have a hopeless and sadness feeling and nobody being there to listen to
them takes them to the worse feeling, wanting to commit suicide. So why should antidepressant
drugs be prescribed for teens suffering from depression ?
In addition, antidepressants should not be prescribed to teens suffering from depression
is that antidepressants contain chemicals we are not aware of and have side effects by chemicals
that are add ons. Based on the article, Antidepressant Paxil Is Unsafe for Teenagers,
antidepressants cause disorders in developing teens brains. It has been studied that some
antidepressant drugs have made teens commit suicide and exhibit violent behavior.
Unquestionably, antidepressants are not as fase as it's been seen.
Actually, antidepressants are more to be dangerous than safe. According to the text
Antidepressant Paxil Is Unsafe for Teenagers, Analysis of Original antidepressant drugs take
teens to have the thought to commit a suicide. The article says that some of the side effects of

this antidepressant drugs can go from sexual dysfunction to suicidal behavior. Antidepressant
drug makers have been instructed to add warnings on these risks of this antidepressants that have
the risks of suicide. Should antidepressant drugs be prescribed to teens who suffer from
depression?
Antidepressant drugs can increase the risk of suicide in teens and children. There is a lot
of risks on antidepressant drugs. Teens who are taking these antidepressants drugs should be
closely watched for their behavior and suicidal thoughts. The article "Antidepressant Paxil Is
Unsafe for Teenagers, Analysis of Original says Questions surrounding the 2001 study played a
central role in the so-called antidepressant wars of the early 2000s, which led to strong warnings
on the labels of Paxil and similar drugs citing the potential suicide risk for children, adolescents
and young adults.
Clearly, antidepressants treatment have the power to increase rather than decreased depression on
teens. Teens are more in danger with taking this drugs than without taking them. According to
the text signs that are making depression worse include anxiety , insomnia, hostility , and
extreme agitation. The study says that the food and drug administration has to required all
depression medications to label the increased risks of suicide in teens by taking the
antidepressant drugs. Should antidepressants drugs be prescribed for teens who suffer from
depression? Antidepressants should not be prescribed to teens or children who go through
depression?
It has been studied that antidepressants take teens to commit suicide or even increase
their depression instead of decreasing. Antidepressant drugs can give a teen side effects such as
migraine headaches ,sleep disturbance to suicidal thoughts. Antidepressants can not be
prescribed to teens. According to the when compared with taking a placebo, taking an SSRI or

another antidepressant doubles the risk for suicidal thinking. Without a doubt, it has been
extremely studied that antidepressants increase more the risk of suicidal thought. Antidepressants
causes a teen violent behavior , mania or aggression. Researchers said the reason why
antidepressants may lead a teen to suicide is that they give the teen enough energy to carry out a
suicide plan. As hard as it might seem antidepressants are increasing depression in teens and it's
leading them to suicidal thoughts and violent crimes. Should antidepressant drugs be prescribed
to teens who suffer from depression. Iits believe that antidepressants cause relatively uncommon
tragedies such as suicide and violence.
Antidepressant drugs are not safe for teens and children as hard as it might seem. Some
antidepressants increases depression in teens instead of decreasing it. It has been studied that
antidepressants have side effects such as migraine headache , anxiety , aggression ,violent crimes
and also causes the teen to commit suicide. This antidepressants are ineffective and have side
effects that people are not warmed about . this depression medications are danger to teens who
suffer from depression and cannot be safe at all. This antidepressant drugs cannot be taken by
teens it will destroy them taking them to act in a violent way and violent crimes .this medications
increase the risk of suicidal thought. On the other hand , some people say antidepressant drugs
are helpful for teens who suffer from depression. Critics believe that antidepressants are the
cause why teens who suffer from depression have suicidal thoughts. While it might be true that
antidepressants are help teens with depression all in all antidepressants are more dangerous.
It's easy to think that antidepressant drugs are a good depression medication ,but when
you look at the evidence antidepressants have side effects and are not safe to teens .
antidepressant drugs should not be prescribed to teens who suffer from depression , because this
drug medications have side effects causing teens to act with aggressive violent and increasing

instead of decreasing their depression . and leading them to suicidal thoughts . antidepressants
are not safe at all. Would you let your children take or keep taking this dangerous
antidepressants who are supposed to be safe and can end up killing them?
Antidepressants would not be safe if it takes teens to violent crimes up to making a plan
on how to commit a suicide. Antidepressants are extremely not safe at all and it destroys teens
more than what you can think.
