Boguhn, Ally. "Dress Codes, Double Standards, and 4 Other Subtle Ways Women Face Sexism at
Work." Magazine, Everyday Feminism, 19 June 2015. Accessed 23 Nov. 2016.
This article discusses the perceptions of women based on their dress choice or image in any
given uniform as well as gender discrimination in the workplace. I found this article by typing in
the google search engine Stereotypes of Women Dressing Inappropriately and chose the first
option which led me to Boguhns article. This article is a part of a magazine based on everyday
feminism and issues women face in the work environment. Therefore, I know it is a trustworthy
site because it incorporates real life examples that occurred to different women in various
workplaces. This article will serve its purpose in my essay by using quotes about women and
their style of dress as a way to prove that style of dress is not a reason for women to have to deal
with sexual advances while in a workplace environment. I will use statements from the article
and compare them to the episode from The Office where Phyllis is getting attacked and Michael
asks whether the person has attacked her has seen the other more attractive women of The
Office.

This blog discusses the many different stereotypes presented throughout the Television show The
Office. This blog also focuses on the representation of stereotypes, regardless of whether the
show is just intended to be satirical, it still reinforces social norms regarding gender, race, and
sexuality. I found this blog by typing in Women Stereotypes in "The Office" on Googles
search engine and scrolled to the option that specified about popular culture. Its credibility comes
from the fact that it is another viewers experience with the Television series, therefore, becomes
another interpretation and perspective on the stereotypical representations that occur throughout
the show. It is useful to my essay because one of the paragraphs discusses the hegemonic
hierarchy of women holding a lower standard than the men, therefore, it can be used as an
example to validate the point that all the women in the show are less respected than the men.
The Office. Ken Kwapis. NBC, 2005. Netflix. Web. 23 November 2016.
This is a website that lets you access all of the episodes for The Office and streams all the
episodes for only $9.99 a month. Its a common website that everyone knows about and thats
how I discovered it. It is credible because all the episodes are in full length with no cut outs or
any interruptions and the episodes come directly from the shows themselves where they are
purchased in order to be licensed to stream legally. This will help my topic by allowing me to
view all the episodes and find all the various examples throughout all the seasons which will aid
me to find dialogue or actions that prove The Office demonstrates women as weak, annoying,
and targets for sexual advances. Using examples of events from the show can help give my
claims the factual evidence it needs to be proved.
"Women in the Workplace 2016." McKinsey and Company, Sept. 2016. Accessed 23 Nov. 2016.
This is a statistical article based on women in the workplace in 2016 which shows that more than
75 percent of CEOs are men and the rare occurrence of a woman being able to advance to a

position of managerial status. I found this article by typing Women in the Workplace into the
google search engine and chose the second option. Its a credible source because the entire article
focuses on presenting all the statistical facts about women in the 2016 workplace and how men
hold more powerful positions than any of the women. It also focuses on how women get less
informal feedback than men regardless of the fact that both request it the same number of times.
By using some of the statistics presented in the article, it will assist my essay by proving that
women werent considered as candidates for any of the managerial positions in The Office
because they were women who are neglected regardless of their qualifications or experience.
