Excavating under the existing building foundation puts the historic
building at risk
Floor slabs in the historic auditorium and in the art storage area would
need to be removed and replaced with structural slabs
It is very difficult to waterproof an excavated space from one side which is
essential for a museum.
The rst oor has a lower ceiling height and wont accommodate the needs
of a gallery, education space, or other public space

2. Grading to softly roll away from the building, would require some
minor fill on South Faade, some tree maintenance (removal of deadwood and the like), and removal of some existing trees and overgrown shrubs.
