During completing this report for EWC 661 course, there are several individuals who helped us
until the report is done. First and foremost, we would like to thank to the person who helped us a
lot by giving her advises and comments, our EWC 661 lecturer, Mrs. Noor Azhana Binti Mohd
Hamdan. Besides, her guidance throughout this report were very appreciated.
Then, we want to thank to our classmates who were always being supportive and help us in
sharing different opinions and feedback that gave us improvements in completing this report.
Next, we also feel grateful to all of our respondents on lending their time to complete our
research and survey on this report.
And not to forget, we also like to voice out our appreciation to our family members for their
moral and financial support during preparation of this report.
Without all of these commitments and support from all of them, this report would not be done

TERMS OF REFERENCE
In September 2016, Muhammad Syahir Bin Ahmad, Abdul Qayum Bin Abd Malek, Muhammad
Amirul Bin Mat Jusoh, Mohammad Syafiq Bin Md Ali and Amirul Aizat Bin Amir Rudin from
the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, UiTM Shah Alam were instructed by Mrs. Noor Azhana
Binti Mohd Hamdan, the Report Writing lecturer (EWC 661) to write a report about Sleep
Deprivation on UiTM Shah Alam students and to submit it on 20th of December 2016.

ABSTRACT

Most of the students nowadays having sleep deprivations while studying in the
universities. Many of the students in UiTM Shah Alam having sleep deprivation. Thus a
study is conducted to determine the impact of sleep deprivation on the students. The
objectives include to find out the sleeping habit among students, to obtain the reasons
having sleep deprivation, to determine the positive effect of sleep deprivation, to
investigate the negative effects of sleep deprivation and to identify the solutions from
getting sleep deprivation. It was found that 75% of the respondents were affected with
sleep deprived as a university student. Another 25% were not having sleep deprivation.
Apart from that 70% of the respondents so hooked onto study because they have to
prepare for exam/assignment. 20% of the respondents were hooked onto playing
computer because of addictive. 10% of the respondents so hooked watching movies
online because they wanted to spend time with friends. The first solution from getting
sleep deprivation is managing time efficiently so that does not need to sacrifice the sleep
time for studying. 45% of the correspondent strongly agree, 35% agree. However, there
are 15% of the correspondent disagree and another 5% strongly disagree. It is
recommended that students must lead a healthy lifestyle by getting adequate of sleep
everyday. Thus they can succeed in their studies.
