Termix One Solar

Domestic hot water module for flats, single-family houses
and apartment buildings with up to 10 apartments
Domestic hot water module with heat exchanger and thermostatic control.
Designed for wall-mounting.
Application
The Termix One Solar is an instantaneous
water heater, featuring superb heat
extraction and high performance. The
Termix One Solar is applicable for heating
systems with buffer accumulators,
solar systems or for other heat sources,
where a very low return temperature is
preferred. The water heater is available in
three sizes, either for 1 apartment, for 1-4
apartments or for 5 up to 10 apartments.
The large heat exchanger cools out the
water in the primary return line very efficien
tly, thereby creating a very good operation
economy. A flow switch in cold water mains
is controlling the primary heating pump.
An optional circulation pump together with
a thermostat can maintain the circulating
temperature at a desired temperature.
Domestic hot water (DHW)
The domestic hot water is prepared in
the heat exchanger and the temperature
is regulated with a thermostatic control
valve. The patented sensor accelerator
accelerates the closing of the thermostatic

VC.LC.G4.02 Danfoss 05/2012

control valve and protects the heat

exchanger against overheating and lime
scale formation. The sensor accelerator
and the thermostatic control valve
also works as a bypass keeping the
heat exchanger and supply line warm.
This shortens the waiting periods.
The sensor accelerator helps to ensure
a stable hot water temperature by varying
loads, flow temperatures and differential
pressure without the need for readjusting
the valve. There is no additional pressure
loss on the secondary side of the DHW heat
exchanger with a thermostatic control.
Therefore this type of regulation can be
used by low pressure in the cold water
mains.
Options
The water heater can be supplied with
built in non-return valve and safety valve
mounted in the cold water supply.

Construction
All pipes are made of stainless steel.
The connections are made by nuts and
gaskets. The Termix One Solar is delivered
with an attractive steel grey cover in mo
dern design, emphasising the high level
of quality and comfort which characterises
this product.

Akva Vita II
Instantaneous water heater for single-family houses and flats
Pressure controlled instantaneous water heater with heat exchanger. Unique DHW temperature
control with esaveTM function and cold heat exchanger during standby.
Application
The Akva Vita II is an instantaneous water
heater featuring high performance and
simple operation. It is especially suitable for
single-family houses and for systems with a
similar domestic hot water requirement.
The Akva Vita II can be used directly on district heating networks with a differential
pressure of max. 2.5 bar.
Construction
The Akva Vita II water heater is prefabricated
with a brazed, highly efficient Danfoss plate heat exchanger for domestic hot water production, a domestic hot water controller Danfoss PM2+P, as well as a Danfoss
FJVR thermostat for control of the bypass/
circulation temperature. All pipes are made
of stainless steel and the connections are
made by nuts and gaskets. As an option and
if approved by local regulations the water
heater can be supplied with a Danfoss AVE
expansion unit to avoid having to establish
a discharge pipe.
Design
The Akva Vita II is designed for wallmounting and the design emphasizes a
user-friendly placement of the controllers.
The Akva Vita II can be supplied with a brushed or white-lacquered stainless steel cover
in an elegant and modern design.
Bypass (thermostatic circulation)
The water heater is supplied with a thermostatically controlled bypass, which ensuVL.GP.J1.02 Danfoss 10/2012

res that hot water is produced immediately, when tapping starts. The bypass temperature is set with due consideration of the best
possible DHW comfort and economy.
Domestic hot water circulation
The water heater is prepared for domestic
hot water circulation. If the household piping includes hot water recirculation the
water heater must be connected to the hot
water recirculation system and a circulation pump and a non-return valve must be
mounted on the circulation pipe and a safety valve must be mounted in the DCW inlet. The pump must be installed so that it
pumps towards the water heater. Domestic
hot water circulation ensures that hot water is available at the tapping point without
waiting time and waste of water. The circulation temperature is set independently of
the set DHW temperature. This ensures the
best possible DHW comfort, very low standby losses and thus a very good district heating economy. Please note that Akva Vita II
with AVE expansion unit should not be used
on systems with domestic hot water recirculation.
Heat exchanger for DHW heating
The water heater is based on a brazed, highly
efficient plate heat exchanger type XB 06H-1
26, which is controlled by a pressure controlled DHW controller, Danfoss PM+P with integrated differential pressure controller and
esaveTM function, which ensures that the
heat exchanger is cold during standby. Af-

ter completion of the tapping process, the

controller immediately blocks the district
heating flow, to avoid standby losses and
to protect the heat exchanger from the formation of lime scale and growth of bacteria.
The heat exchanger is cold during standby,
so the heat loss is very low. The integrated
differential pressure controller compensates
for variations in supply temperature and varying differential pressure and thereby ensures a constant hot water temperature at
all times.
Service and maintenance
The water heater is very service-friendly and
easy to install. It is mounted on the wall and
as all pipes are placed in pipe bracket distance, it is possible to establish a nice piping.

Termix One-B with complete insulation

Instantaneous water heater for flats, single-family houses and small
apartment buildings with up to 4 flats
Instantaneous water heater with heat exchanger and thermostatic control.
Designed for wall-mounting.
Application
The Termix One is an instantaneous water
heater featuring superb heat extraction and
high performance. The Termix One is suitable for flats, single-family houses as well as
for small apartment buildings with up to 4
apartments. The water heater is available in
two sizes, either for 1 apartment or for 14
apartments. The Termix One is applicable
for decentralized heating systems as well
as for district heating networks with summer
operation at low temperatures or changes in
differential pressure. The Termix One heat exchanger cools the district heating water very
efficiently, thereby creating a very good operation economy.
Domestic hot water (DHW)
The domestic hot water is prepared in the
heat exchanger and the temperature is
regulated with a thermostatic control valve.
The patented sensor accelerator accelerates
the closing of the Danfoss AVTB valve and
protects the heat exchanger against over-

VL.IE.X1.02 Danfoss 01/2013

heating and lime scale formation. The sensor accelerator and AVTB valve also works
as a bypass keeping the house supply line
warm. This shortens the waiting periods during summer when the heating system is in
reduced operation. The sensor accelerator
helps to ensure a stable hot water temperature by varying loads, flow temperatures and
differential pressure without the need for
readjusting the valve. There is no additional
pressure loss on the secondary side of the
DHW heat exchanger with a thermostatic
control. Therefore this type of regulation can
be used by low pressure on the in the cold
water mains.
Construction
All pipes are made of stainless steel. The connections are made by nuts and gaskets. The
Termix One comes with a complete fully insulated cover thus minimizing the heat loss
both during tapping of domestic hot water
but also in standby mode.

FEATURES AND BENEFITS

The domestic hot water flow pumped through

the heat exchanger (HEL) by the charging pump
(LPU) remains constant at all times and is preset
via the balancing valve.

The domestic hot water temperature is

maintained at a constant level through a
balancing valve via the water temperature
controller (CVS/CVE).
As a result, the following operation modes can
be defined for the ThermoDual DHW charging
system:
Low Load Operation
During low load operation, all of the cold water
flows through the heat exchanger (HEL). If the
tap output is smaller than the flow pre-set by the
balancing valve, a portion of the hot water (tap
flow) flows to the tap locations in the upper part
of the tank (DTA) as a bypass. The residual water
is removed from the bottom of the tank (DTA),
causing the tank (DTA) to be continually charged.
The total tap output is covered by the heat
exchanger (HEL), while the storage tank (DTA) is
not being discharged.
Peak Load Operation
During peak load operation (higher demand that
can be supplied by the available heating power),
the pre-set cold water flow flows through the
heat exchanger (HEL) and the residual water
streams from the bottom to the top of the
storage tank (DTA). The tap output is covered
by the heat exchanger (HEL) while the domestic
water storage tank (DTA) is being simultaneously
discharged.
Once tap operation ceases, the storage tank
(DTA) is charged as described below.

ThermoDual DHW charging system

Charging Operation (no consumption)
If there is no consumption the storage tank (DTA)
is being charged.
The total charging flow is removed through
the bottom of the tank (DTA) and returned
through the top of the storage tank (DTA) via
heat exchanger (HEL). If the storage tank (DTA) is
completely charged and no output consumption
occurs, the control valve (CVS/CVE) closes and
interrupts the heating water flow.
A virtual flash showing the operations is
available, please contact your Danfoss local
representative.

MAKING MODERN LIVING POSSIBLE

Termix One-B
Instantaneous water heater for flats, single-family houses
and small apartment buildings with up to 10 flats
Instantaneous water heater with heat exchanger
and thermostatic control. Designed for wallmounting.

Application
The Termix One is an instantaneous
water heater featuring superb heat
extraction and high performance.
The Termix One is suitable for flats,
single-family houses as well as for
small apartment buildings with up
to 10 apartments. The water heater
is available in three sizes, either for
1 apartment, for 14 apartments or
for 5 up to 10 apartments. The Termix
One is applicable for decentralized
heating systems as well as for district heating networks with summer
operation at low temperatures or
changes in differential pressure. The
Termix One heat exchanger cools the
district heating water very efficiently,
thereby creating a very good operation economy.
Domestic hot water (DHW)
The domestic hot water is prepared in
the heat exchanger and the temperature is regulated with a thermostatic
control valve. The patented sensor accelerator accelerates the closing of the
Danfoss AVTB valve and protects the
heat exchanger against overheating
and lime scale formation. The sensor accelerator and AVTB valve also works as
a bypass keeping the house supply line

districtenergy.danfoss.com

warm. This shortens the waiting periods

during summer when the heating system is in reduced operation. The sensor
accelerator helps to ensure a stable hot
water temperature by varying loads,
flow temperatures and differential pressure without the need for readjusting
the valve. There is no additional pressure loss on the secondary side of the
DHW heat exchanger with a thermostatic control. Therefore this type of
regulation can be used by low pressure
on the in the cold water mains.
Options
The water heater can be supplied
with a (built-in) in non-return valve
and safety valve mounted in the cold
water supply. The water hater can
also be supplied with a thermostatic
circulation valve and a non-return

MAKING MODERN LIVING POSSIBLE

Akva Lux II
Fully insulated instantaneous water heater for low-temperature
district heating
Thermostatic and pressure controlled instantaneous water heater
with heat exchanger. Unique DHW temperature control with energy
saving function and cold heat exchanger during standby.
Application
Akva Lux II is a fully insulated instantaneous water heater featuring high performance. It meets the future energy demands for low energy consumption and
very low standby heat losses. It is especially suitable for large villas with for instance several bathrooms or jacuzzi and
for the large family, for which an exceptionally large amount of water is required. The Akva Lux II is also very suiable for small apartment houses with
2-4 apartments.
Construction
The Akva Lux II water heater is prefabricated with a brazed, highly efficient
Danfoss plate heat exchanger for domestic hot water production, a domestic
hot water controller Danfoss PTC2+P,
as well as a Danfoss FJVR thermostat for
control of the bypass/circulation temperature. A circulation set and a safety set
is available as optional equipment.
Design
The Akva Lux II is designed for wallmounting and much importance has
been assigned to a user-friendly and
easily accessible placement of all system
components, including the controllers.
The Akva Lux II is fully insulated in an
EPP insulation box and can be supplied
with a white-lacquered cover in modern
design.
Bypass (thermostatic circulation)
The water heater is supplied with a thermostatically controlled bypass, which
ensures that hot water is produced immediately, when tapping starts. The by-

districtenergy.danfoss.com

pass temperature is set with due consideration of the best possible DHW comfort and economy.
Domestic hot water recirculation
The water heater is prepared for domestic hot water circulation. If the household piping includes hot water recirculation the water heater must be connected to the hot water recirculation
system and a circulation pump and a
non-return valve must be mounted on
the circulation pipe and a safety valve
must be mounted in the DCW inlet. The
pump must be installed so that it pumps
towards the water heater. Domestic hot
water recirculation ensures that hot water is available at the tapping point without waiting time and waste of water.
The circulation temperature is set independently of the set DHW temperature. This ensures the best possible DHW
comfort, very low standby losses and
thus a very good district heating economy.
Heat exchanger for DHW heating
The water heater is based on a brazed, highly efficient plate heat exchanger type XB 06H-1 26 or XB 06H-1 40,
which is controlled by a thermostatic
and pressure controlled DHW controller, Danfoss PTC2+P with integrated differential pressure controller and energy
saving function, which ensures that the
heat exchanger is cold during standby.
After completion of the tapping process,
the controller immediately blocks the district heating flow, to avoid standby losses and to protect the heat exchanger
from the formation of lime scale and

growth of bacteria. The heat exchanger

is cold during standby, so the heat loss
is very low. The integrated differential
pressure controller compensates for variations in supply temperature and varying differential pressure and thereby ensures a constant hot water temperature
at all times.
Service and maintenance
The water heater is very service-friendly
and easy to install. It is mounted on the
wall and as all pipes are placed in pipe
bracket distance, it is possible to establish a nice piping.

MAKING MODERN LIVING POSSIBLE

Termix
One Solar Light
Domestic hot water module for flats, single-family houses
and apartment buildings with up to 10 apartments
Domestic hot water module with heat exchanger
and thermostatic control. Designed for wall-mounting.

Application
The Termix One Solar Light is an instantaneous water heater, featuring
superb heat extraction and high performance. The Termix One Solar Light
is applicable for heating systems
with buffer accumulators, solar systems or for other heat sources, where
avery low return temperature is preferred. The water heater is available
in three sizes, either for 1 apartment,
for 1-4 apartments or for 5 up to 10
apartments. The large heat exchanger cools out the water in the primary
return line very efficiently, thereby
creating a very good operation
economy. A flow switch in cold water
mains is controlling the primary heating pump. An optional circulation
pump together with a thermostat can
maintain the circulating temperature
at adesired temperature.
Domestic hot water (DHW)
The domestic hot water is prepared in
the heat exchanger and the temperature is regulated with a thermostatic
control valve. The patented sensor
accelerator accelerates the closing
of the thermostatic control valve and
protects the heat exchanger against
overheating and lime scale formation.

districtenergy.danfoss.com

The sensor accelerator and the thermostatic control valve also works as
a bypass keeping the heat exchanger
and supply line warm. This shortens
the waiting periods. The sensor accelerator helps to ensure a stable hot
water temperature by varying loads,
flow temperatures and differential
pressure without the need for readjusting the valve. There is no additional pressure loss on the secondary
side of the DHW heat exchanger with
a thermostatic control. Therefore this
type of regulation can be used by low
pressure in the cold water mains.

ThermoClean
Domestic water heating system with legionella growth
prevention through thermal disinfection
Description/Application

The ThermoClean system is compact and

effective solution for legionella-free domestic
water heating. The system uses the thermal
disinfection methods, whereby the reaction
temperature inside the installation is kept at
a constant temperature of 70 C.
The ThermoClean system is dimensioned
in such a way that the water is warranted to
remain in the reaction area of the device for
at least 5 minutes. During tap operation, the
reaction temperature of 70 C is cooled down to
the required hot water temperature within the
system. This is not achieved by the addition of
cold water, but through an additional re-cooling
heat exchanger which cools the disinfected
water, while preheating cold water, that
simultaneous preheat the cold water.
The hot water temperature can be set at
any temperature between 50 C and 60 C.1
It means that the installation of a scaling
protection device on the taps is redundant if the
temperature is adjusted accordingly.
Due to the connection of the circulation into the
system a continual thermal disinfection of the
hot water is ensured.
The high quality stainless steel design of reaction
and buffer storage tank, heat exchanger and
piping is hygienically perfect, offers a maximum
in operational safety and can be universally used
in combination with the wide range of materials
used in the connected domestic water supply
network.
The recommended temperature is 60 C.

ThermoClean Domestic water heating system

Accessories 4

ThermoClean-DL
1. Domestic hot water storage tank
The ThermoClean system must be combined
with additional domestic hot water storage
tanks to provide the required capacity for peak
consumption. The required storage tank capacity
is based on the calculated peak flow and the
length of the consumption period.
The recommendations provided overleaf for the
total storage tank capacity are based on peak
consumptions lasting 1 hour or according to
customer demands. If the consumption periods
are shorter, the storage tank capacity can be
reduced accordingly.
We recommend the utilization of the following
storage tanks:
- Stainless steel domestic hot water storage tank
series SE,
- Tank sizes: 150 ... 8000 liters,
- Optimum adaptation to requirements due
to optional combination of multiple storage
tanks.
2. Over-tapping protection
Several unexpected factors can result in the
complete consumption of the available storage
tank capacity, which again can lead to the
addition of domestic cold water to the hot water
network that has not run through a proper
thermal disinfection. The potential causes are for
example:
- Heating medium not available in sufficient
quantity or at the adequate temperature,
- Insufficient heat transfer in the heat exchanger
due to fouling,
- Technical defect of a system component (e.g.,
failure of the charging pump),
- Peak consumption continues longer than the
calculated consumption period.

To address this issue, we offer products

complementing our ThermoClean system that
provide effective protection against system overtapping. If the storage tank capacity of thermally
disinfected domestic water is beginning to run
out, the protection interrupts the cold water
supply to the system until the charging process
has once again provided sufficient quantities of
thermally disinfected domestic hot water via the
reaction storage tank. Only after this process is
complete, the cold water supply is established
and the tapping of domestic hot water can
be continued. The device is controlled via the
ThermoClean system control with a manual
switch (ON/OFF/AUTOMATIC).
Over-tapping protection consisting of:
- Motorized butterfly valve, nominal diameter
corresponds to the selected ThermoClean
system, actuator 1~230 V, three-point signal,
- Control thermostat with stainless steel
immersion pocket.

The heat exchanger brings the system volume to

the disinfection temperature of 70 C.
A temperature sensor at the exit of the heat
exchanger monitors this temperature and
regulates the application of heat energy
accordingly. The system is dimensioned to
ensure that the domestic hot water remains in
the reaction area for at least 4 minutes to warrant
the extermination of the legionella bacteria.
The entire system volume is maintained at the
defined disinfection temperature. Only when
the water is tapped, the required quantity of
water is cooled down to the demanded network
temperature (50 ... 60 C) while the new cold
water that is being added is preheated.

VD.KR.D5.02 Danfoss 09/2014

Temperature fluctuations are balanced out by

the mixing valve, so that the precise degree of
water temperature indicated is definitely being
maintained. Proven control technology ensures
that the domestic hot water network is not
heated up during breaks in tapping.
If the consumption volume during peak times
exceeds the charge flow of the system, the
available storage tank volume is tapped. The
optionally available over-tapping protection
ensures that during unexpected functions (e.g.
peak tapping continues for a period exceeding
the determined consumption period) the cold
water supply is suspended until sufficient
thermally disinfected domestic water is once
again available through the charging process via
the reaction tank.
The circulation water from the network enters
the system, is once again heated up to 70C by
the charge heat exchanger and consequently
incorporated into the thermal disinfection
process continually.

Domestic hot water provision by storage charging

principle is an efficient solution that fulfils all hygienic
requirements. Hot water is stored at temperatures that
kill or prevent the growth of pathogens. Favourable
habitats for the proliferation of bacteria such as legionella
do not exist, provided the system is operated in accordance
with the instructions. Ideally this requires an integrated
circulation management. When combined with optimally
hygienic stainless steel water tanks from our SE/SES series,
these systems are the ideal solution where security of
supply is of the essence, particularly at peak load.
The systems essential benefits are:
hygienically safe
efficient cooling of the primary medium
optimum use of energy
free choice from a wide range of energy sources
a t all times sufficient hot water temperature to meet
hygienic requirements
constant hot water temperature

Materials

Domestic hot water provision by instantaneous heater is

an efficient and hygienic optimal solution. Hot water is
not stored and will be produced only on request. Thus,
low temperatures in drinking water can be reduced to a
necessary minimum.
Habitats for bacteria, such as legionella are virtually nonexistent. If the conditions for connection of these systems
are given (sufficiently high capacity on heating side to
cover peak load) or buffer tanks is present, these systems
can be used unrestricted.
Significant advantages of the system are:
no storage of drinking water
efficient cooling of the primary media
optimum use of energy
independent choice of different energy sources
at any time sufficiently high domestic hot water
temperature, that fulfils all hygienic requirements
low space requirement
lime scale is largely avoided

ThermoDual-FLS (welded type)

Function

Flow systems provide heated domestic water when requested. By a heat exchanger (HEL), the cold
water flowing into connection (1will be heated up to set point and provided to the consumer at the
connection (2). The electronic controller (ECD) is measuring the relevant temperatures and controls the
target values that are held constant in all operating conditions. This is i.e. achieved by influencing the
speed of the heating pump (HPU), so that the outlet temperature always matches the specified value.
In case of using a control valve, the flow is directly controlled by an electrical actuator. Short-term peaks
in consumption are registered at the flow sensor to intervene quickly and avoid large temperature
fluctuations. The cooled- circulation water from the network (connection 3) is constantly heated in
heat exchanger (HEL), even in times of draw-off , reheated and the temperature control (sensor) in the
amount of the controlled circulation pump ( CPU) influenced so that only the necessary amount flows
to maintain constant power set point.
The capacity for the peak load is to ensure either by buffering heating water in a tank (BTA) or there
must be a sufficiently large connection value available. The Recharging of a buffer (e.g. from a boiler)
can a requisition (sensor / switch contact) on controller (ECD) using an on-site charging pump (LPU).
The operation of the system by a controlled heating pump (HPU) is only possible without differential
pressure between the connections (4) and (5).
