Rape is a brutal demonstration of one's power and control over another person. (The
Treatment of Rape Victims). In Pennsylvania, more than half of hospitals deny women the right
to choose emergency contraception even though many women who have been raped do not know
that it is available. Even in some cities, hospitals do not tell rape victims about emergency
contraception. Even in those that do, some medical professionals choose to withhold information
about contraceptives due to their personal beliefs. Varner believes that every patient deserves the

same standard of care as any other patient across the U.S. This article is relevant because it tells
what rape is and the cure for it which some hospitals do not give.

Although pornography is not the sole cause of sexual violence, it can significantly
undermine male inhibitions against committing rape and should be considered an important
factor in the persistence of the problem of rape. Feminists claim that men believe that women
are just objects, making it easier for them to not feel guilty about committing the rape. In another
study, it shows that men believe the myth that women say they want to be raped by wearing
provocative clothing, such as short skirts, dresses, and tight clothing. Sixty-nine percent believed
that most men are innocent of rape (Some Men Rape, Russell). This article gives information
about the causes of why men rape women.

describes where she was walking and what happened in the time leading up to her rape. She
describes how she was treated at the hospital with the rape kits and how they set her up in
therapy.
