Causes of
Poverty (Health
Care)

As of 2009, there were

only 729 physicians
registered in Mali, which is
less than one doctor for
every 10,000 people.

This shows that most

people dont have a lot
of doctors in Mali
causing bad health
care, because of the
lack of equipment and
doctors in Mali because
of poverty.

This matters because

if someone gets sick in
Mali they dont have

doctor to go to
because of the
poverty, which causes
higher death rates.

Causes of
Poverty

Around 15 percent of
children in Mali suffered
from acute malnutrition,
even before the crisis.

What this means is that

out of all the children
living in the country of
Mali 15% of these
children are not a
healthy weight for their
age and height. Most of
these childrens are
bodies are almost skin
and bones from the
lack of food and

because they dont
have enough money for
what they need.

This matters because

they struggle to get

Considering a lot of
these children suffer

that the more children
that are born the more
they will suffer.

Causes of
poverty

In general, the principal

causes of poverty are
harmful economic systems,
conflict, environmental

factors such as drought

population growth (WHES

major cause of hunger. All
are very important as

This means there isnt a

Poor Healthcare

The capital, Bamako, has

two large hospitals and
there are hospitals in
other main towns and
cities. However, the low life
expectancy in Mali reflects
the generally poor
standards of healthcare
available in much of the
country.

This means that

considering Mali is in
such bad poverty they
arent able to have
much hospitals or
healthcare centers
around and even for
the ones that are
around they still dont
get the best medical
attention and care that
they need.

This matters because

over half are families
affected by the conflict,
while the rest are people in
the southern part of the
country receiving

work on

This means that the

W.F.P (the World Food

help them as much as
possible. They want to

everyone there so they

Helping the

In addition to providing
food to families displaced
by the fighting, WFP is also
giving them cash, which
they can use to buy fresh
meat and vegetables. That
will give them the flexibility
to choose what foods to
buy while giving a much
needed boost to the local
economy.

This means that W.F.P

wants to help all the
families that have been
affected by the fighting
and violence in Mali by
giving them cash,food,
and other supplies and
necessities that they
need in order to
survive better. They
are giving them a
chance to boost their
economy for the better

Helping the

WFP is transporting food

to northern Mali using a
cross-border operation
from Niger as a
complement to food
arriving from the country's
south. In March, WFP
provided food assistance
to some 125,700 people in
northern Mali, in addition
to 152,300 people from the
region who've fled to other
parts of the country.

They are bringing

foods that will be
helpful and the best for
these people and doing
all they can. This shows
that by March they
ended up providing
food to over 125,000
people in the northern
part of Mali and 150,000
people who went to the
other parts of the
country.

Healthcare

In Mali, despite a certain

political normalization, the
armed conflict that has
been under way for almost
two years makes access to
health care difficult for
people living in the north.
The ICRC is helping them
by maintaining its support
for certain health
facilities.

This means that even if

they took away the
certain political
normalization and the
armed conflict that has
been going on for
almost 2 years now its
still hard for them to
access health care
since its difficult for
the northern people.

This matters because

Mali has a bad
healthcare and they
dont have a lot of
buildings and people to
help the sick.
