convenceu de que o TWI j era praticado no passado no nosso sistema de
ensino!
Acho que no atual sistema de ensino indiano h demasiada nfase e1n
abordagens convencionais fixas e pouco espao para o uso criativo da mente.
Isto pode ser compreensvel at certo ponto , uma vez que o siste1na orientado para ensinar mentes mais jovens a avaliar os itens bsicos e prover um.
sistema para que um examinador avalie se o aluno compreendeu de fato os
fundamentos. Neste sistema, o nico risco no-auditado o desenvolvimento
de um obs1culo denominado bloqueio mental, que os alunos adquirem com
o passar do tempo. Esse tipo de sistema reduz o poder de criatividade dos
alunos na resoluo de problemas, tornando-os dependentes de mtodos
convencionais e fixos de resoluo de problemas.

n1ais inteligente do que um forte oponente. Tenho muito respeito pelas pessoas
que criam as perguntas encontradas nesses testes. Qualquer um que tenha
suado por duas horas para responder a un1 CAT atestar o fato ele que preciso muito 1nais capacidade intelectual para criar as perguntas do que para
respond-las! Portanto, achei que seria melhor explicar a abordagem TWl
atravs desses exemplos be1n concebidos.
Espero convencer os leitores de que exigimos mais raciocnio para resolver problemas matemticos do que a prpria matemtica pura! Em ltilna
anlise, a vida um quebra-cabeas de relaes interligadas e difceis de entender. No caso da matemtica, a relao apenas entre nmeros ou snbolos. E exigimos abordagens de raciocnio para entender as relaes.

10 caixas, cada u1na contendo 10 bolas de ferro. Sabernos que todas as bolas
nas caixas pesam 10 g cada uma, com exceo de u,na caixa cujas bolas
pesam 9 g. Mas as dez caixas so iguais. Voc abre a caixa e v as bolas de
ferro , mas no consegue distinguir visualmente as bolas de 10 g daquelas
de 9 g. Voc recebe u,na balana que pode pesar uma caixa por vez e indicar
o peso correto. Quantas caixas voc pesar antes de achar aquela que contm as bolas mais leves? Este problen1a requer a compreenso da relao entre
as caixas para se determina r a soluo. Os leitores que resolveram o problema tendo em mente o conceito de relao obt1n a resposta certa, que "l".
Sabemos que as caixas pesam 100 g cada, exceto uma que pesa 90 g. A
melhor abordagem seria alinhar as caixas e nu1ner-las. A seguir pegue
a primeira caixa com 10 bolas e acrescente 9 bolas da segunda caixa, 8 da
terceira e assim por diante, at acrescentar apenas uma bola da ltin1a
caixa. Agora a primeira caixa cont1n 55 bolas e seu peso seria de 550 g se
todas elas pesassem 10 g. Con10 un1a das caixas contm bolas mais leves, o
peso total da primeira caixa ser inferior a 550 g. Agora voc pode identificar
a caixa mais leve, dependendo de "quantos gramas a menos" pesa a primeira
caixa en1 relao a 550 g.

gerentes e lderes 1nais inteligentes no so aqueles que pensa1n de forma
convencional e perdem te111po atolados em problemas. Eles usam a abordagem
mais inteligente contida na filosofia TWl - veja de n1aneira diferente; pense
de forma mais inteligente. Eles usam conceitos fundamentais que adquiriram na sua educao regular; porm , mais importante, eles vo alm
do convencional e encontram solues criativas que escapam ao homem
comum.

TWI ETESTES DE
APTIDAO
Em sua maioria, os testes ele aptido so concebidos para avaliar a "capacidade de pensar de forma inteligente" . No necessrio nada alm de bom
senso bem desenvolvido para resolver esses testes. O sucesso na resoluo de
qualquer proble1na nesses testes de aptido depende do quanto os estudantes
se concentram na resposta final. O "resultado final" mais importante do que
o "processo" para atingi-lo.
Nos testes de aptido, a maior parte dos problemas pode ser resolvida
usando-se uma "Abordagem sistemtica" ou un1 "Mtodo convencional".
Este o tntodo no qual os estudantes tn1 sido treinados desde que comeara1n a freqentar a escola. Essas abordagens sistemticas so demoradas,
alm de, em muitos casos, acrescentarem co1nplexidade ao problema. A 1nelhor
abordagem para se resolver qualquer problema em testes de aptido resolvlo sem escrever nada em papel. Como j n1encionei, esta a base do TWl.
Em contraste, as abordagens convencionais exigem trabalho detalhado no
papel e, portanto, no so as melhores para se usar e1n testes de aptido.

O Pandit un1 sujeito sistemlico e cauteloso e resolve problemas usando tcnicas convencionais. Ele acredita que problemas devem ser resolvidos
usando uma abordagem passo a passo. Quando ele est resolvendo seus problemas, voc o v sentado ereto em sua cadeira, segurando un1a caneta e um

eu sabemos que isto no verdade. impossvel armazenar tantos nmeros
nu1n pequeno crebro. Como seres humanos, possumos uma capacidade de
men1ria 1nuito pequena e no podemos ench-la com uma grande base de
dados de nmeros. Mas quando eles dizem "le1nbre-se" dos nmeros, queren1 dizer que voc deve ser capaz de calcular valores mais depressa. Se voc

Como efetuar clculos mentais para as contas acin1a? Em primeiro lugar,
devemos levar em conta o fato de que somos fracos para lidar com grandes
nmeros. Ficamos mais vontade com nmeros menores. Clculos como
2 X 3 ou 4 X 5 so feitos por ns com a velocidade do raio. A multiplicao de
