Leadership and Competency is needed in Coal Industries

Coal is one of energy source that very efficient in terms of use and economical in the industrial
world. This energy source is used mainly in the fields of coal power plants in which nearly half of the
power plant in Indonesia utilize coal as fuel. The process of building this plant itself does not require
a long time and requires a wide land area compare to another power plant such as water turbine
power plant, therefore this plant still remain very attractive to investors. With the increasing
demand for energy, particularly electricity in Indonesia and coal still be excellent to meet the needs,
of course the coal industries are still very promising future. Moreover, the Indonesian Government
now has a program of development and build electricity power plant up to 35000 MW, and to meet
these targets would require large number of coal and this is a significant opportunity for the growth
of coal industries.
Good and economical Coal industry requires good and competent human resources, to answer
the challenges of this industry in the future such as environmental issues, permitting, exploration,
and exploitation. I have worked in the industrial exploitation of the energy particularly on drilling oil
and gas as wellsite geologist for two years. A lot of experiences that I gain and learn as
professionalism, coordination, work as team and work as leader, objectives and safety aspects of
each job, supervision of the work with high technology and high risk to achieve the goals and
evaluation of each process execution of work in order to can get maximum work result in the future.
That kind of ability is the main asset to improve self capabilities in order to help the company to
reach each job target without ignoring any safety aspects.
One of the many ways to improve our skills and capabilities is systematic training program.
Management Development Program (MDP) PT. Golden Energy Mines Tbk is an excellent program
to develop self capabilities and the nature of leadership which is needed in any work and decisionmaking. The program certainly would be maximized if the candidates also have good skills.
Leadership, knowledge, skill, attitude, and experiences are most of important things that every
people should have to reach every objective in all kind of industries especially coal industries.
Through my experiences, I have already those basic asset to be enhanced , I believe the program is
appropriate to improve my ability which is certainly a very valuable corporate asset to answer and
find solutions to the challenges in the coal industry in the future.
