Developed by Sam Vaknin, Cold Therapy is based on two premises: (1) That
narcissistic disorders are actually forms of complex post-traumatic conditions;
and (2) That narcissists are the outcomes of arrested development and
attachment dysfunctions. Consequently, Cold Therapy borrows techniques from
child psychology and from treatment modalities used to deal with PTSD.

DAY 1

Comorbidity of NPD with other Cluster B personality disorders and mental health problems
(mood disorders, eating disorders, autism spectrum, etc.)
Treatment modalities in Cluster B personality disorders: CBT, CEBT, REBT, DBT, Schema,
Dynamic Psychotherapy (Psychodynamic Therapy, Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy),
Psychoanalysis, Gestalt, Group Therapy
Problems with psychological tests and interpretation (focus on NPI and MMPI)
Setting realistic therapy goals: behavior modification, reconciling lifestyle and choices with
the patients pathological/secondary narcissism, settling on an extended time frame, the
measurement of outcomes.
